My guild killed Deathwing 3 weeks ago. I feel okay with that; there were only 7 bosses before him, after all. And if you tally up the hours we spent on him it's probably in the range of 20 or so. I'm fine with that amount, because after even that my guild has coined a term for wiping repeatedly with no progress: Deathwinging.
It took us half a raid period to get H Morchock down, and we've been banging our head against H Yor'shaj for the last 3 weeks, though we have gotten him down to sub-20% several times. I'd say we've put around 15 hours on that guy (5 hours a week * 3 weeks) and some people are getting antsy with our lack of progress.
I think we've gotten used to killing bosses within a few lockout periods, so when we don't do something like that, people are unhappy. All in all I'm not unhappy with DS's difficulty, and find it perfect for my range, but I can see how people would be upset with it, especially if they came from Firelands into this tier.
