I believe the term here that we are looking for here is Sparse, as in Spartan. The gear here is supposed to be simple, functional, and without any flare. Unlike the nice Climate over in Elwynn Forrest, Durotar is a desert, it's hot - leather works best, also it's probably best, when standing guard all day, to not bother with a helm or cape.

These are the key differences between Stormwind Guard and the Orgimmar Guard, Climate (both social and environmental). It's why I love Horde. You live with what you need, what you want is not part of the discussion, this is war, this is a fight to live, this is a fight for our own, this is a fight... FOR THE HORDE!
