Phat Loot Phriday: Belt of the Beloved Companion

The Gilnean and Miranda both slept in their respective tents. Lolegolas chalked it up to their having been so busy getting the party safely through the dwarf lands. He tossed another chunk of wood into the campfire.
"I have something for you," Throgg said. "Got it a while back."
Lolegolas looked across the campfire at his orc friend. The two had enjoyed dozens of adventures in the last year. He couldn't escape the pressing feeling that it had to end. The doubt plagued him throughout Arathi.
Throgg pulled a long, scaled belt from his sack. The orc stared at it for a moment and tossed it across the distance between them. "Belt of the Beloved Companion. I can't use it, thought you could."
Lolegolas ran his hands along the belt. "This is a magnificent item. Room for red gems, lots of enchantments that benefit hunters." Lolegolas opened his mouth to continue but stopped.
"Might need it," Throgg said quietly. "If Abercrombie is with Sylvanas, Undercity will be hard to escape alive."
"It's not like Garrosh is going to do us any favors," Lolegolas said. He leaned back across the log, resting his elbows on the cool earth. "Is this really worth it? For a human girl?"
"No one else can," Throgg said quietly, poking the ground. "We're like a little Horde, you and I. Things we used to believe in. Just we carry it now instead of Thrall."
Lolegolas stared at the orc for a while and sighed, slipping the belt around his waist. "Lok'tar, then."

Awesome sauce.

Agreed! If there was anything to embody what I feel about my current situation as a Hordie (from an RP standpoint), that nailed it!

Flavor text "Blackhorn's first drake stayed with him forever"
You mean, he turned his first drake into a belt? o_O
tw_holt Jan 20th 2012 9:56AM
That's what it sounds like. If so, that's pretty crazy. Maybe the drake died and he recycled parts of it.
Spelio Jan 20th 2012 9:59AM
Probably after it died. I don't think he would kill his first drake on purpose for the sole reason of creating a belt....but you never know. He could be that big of an ass.
Nick Jan 20th 2012 10:10AM
That's what I take from it. He's not nice to his drakes really, in heroic he uses a life drain type ability on his drake in the fight. In LFR and Normal his drake abandons him when things don't look great, so evidently there is little love between the 2 of them.
Cortizo Jan 20th 2012 10:14AM
Yeah, I don't think he actually killed his drake (just) to make a piece or armor, too.
I mean, he may have killed it as an example to the other drakes under his care. And then he thought: "Hey, why not make a belt out of it?"
=p

Well, he IS part of the Twilight Cult, so its plausable, I mean they do crazy things anyways
Spelio Jan 20th 2012 10:01AM
I must say that I enjoy the banter between Lolegolas and Throgg. The mini story that you create for each article is interesting and the"running" storyline has kept me coming back just so I can keep up with their travels.

Michael, you and Kelly need NEED to turn this into a comic.

Well, at least we know what professions Blackhorn knows.
StClair Jan 20th 2012 12:24PM
Beloved companion indeed.
Nagaina Jan 20th 2012 2:52PM
What you said.
Except with more fangirly squeeing and sparkletext.
::cough::
Maribel Jan 20th 2012 4:48PM
Yes, echoing the fangirly squeeing and sparkletext. Which pretty much started when I saw the title.
How would one even categorize fic about these two? Is it WoW fanfic, or Phat Loot Phriday fanfic?
Azi Jan 20th 2012 12:53PM
"Beloved" Companion. Obviously, during one of the many battles warred against the world, Blackhorn's first drake, the first drake he obtained when he was merely a soldier under another Warmaster, fell during a gruesome battle. Still emotionally connected to his scaly friend, he could not bare leaving him on the battlefield. The battle still raged on as the tauren took out a knife and relieved his drake of his mighty scaled armor. He would not need it anymore.
*sniff*

I don't care if it's not canon - Throgg and Lolegolas have officially beat out Tholo and Anren for WoW's most epic OTP.
Maribel Jan 20th 2012 4:50PM
They're a Horde of two! It doesn't get much more epic than that.
