The Queue: Do it live
Warpaint is a band you just have to see live. This is a fantastic live version of Burgundy followed by Undertow.
Zaet asked:
Do u think there will ever be another Warcraft RTS?
Put plainly, I'd be incredibly surprised if we saw another entry into the main Warcraft series while WoW was running. Placing Warcraft 4 right after WoW gives Blizzard very little wiggle room when it comes to the MMO's story, but placing it long after WoW sort of invalidates the MMO's story progress altogether. Essentially: "Here's what's going to happen regardless of how WoW's story plays out."
Of course, I'd love to play as an older Arator the Redeemer or even a King Anduin Wrynn, mind you.
yous95 asked:
What is the biggest creature in all of WoW history? I'm guessing Sargeras, but I'm not sure.
On terrestrial Azeroth, I'm fairly certain the largest natural creature (the largest we can identify, anyway) is Galakrond, the big daddy of all dragons. You can see his bones in Dragonblight. There are the bones of another "larger" creature off the coast of Kalimdor, but Galakrond was supposed to be the biggest, so I blame abstractions of size for that.
On Outland, that honor goes to Supremus, at least where in-game size is concerned. He is absolutely massive.
Kaia asked:
why is it that the worgen NPCs say 'May the light of the New Moon guide you' when a New Moon is completely dark and doesn't reflect any light? Am I missing something or what?
It's pretty clearly a mistake. This happens sometimes; see Mat's answer to the "sulfur and brimstone" question yesterday.
pldrx12 asked:
In MoP we will have to chosse a "tier" of talents each 15 levels. That makes 6 for 90 levels. But what will happen with future expansions that "probably" will contain less than 15 levels? They will have no new "tier" or will it imply to somehow rebuild the talent system ? (Hopefully they will containt 15 levels :D)
Every iteration of the talent system has problems, but this one can be fixed simply by changing the levels at which you get new talent points. Don't count on the expansion after MoP taking you to level 105.
JA asked:
Sometimes while queued up for LFR I tab out while I wait... I have missed my queue pop, but it dropped me in the raid anyways without me accepting. Why would it still drop me in the raid without accepting?
You're automatically added to a Raid Finder group unless you explicitly decline it via the prompt. I imagine it's to expedite group formation.

"Why does Illidan say 'Sulfur and Brimstone'?"
"Why do Worgen say 'Light of the New Moon'?"
"Why don't Deathwing or other Dragon Aspects just change their size to either destroy Deathwing, or in Deathwing's case, destroy the rest of us?"
All of these things have the same answer. It's for the same reason that the Eagles didn't just fly Frodo right into Mount Doom and save everyone a lot of trouble.
My question is: "Whatever happened to suspension of disbelief?"
Al Jan 22nd 2012 9:37PM
Smaller details set off disbelief much more. Take Star Wars, where FTL travel is fine, but everyone picks on the single-biome planets.
Not that those questions have the same answer.
"Incorrect word usage"
"New moons don't have light"
"He'd spread his molecules too thin."
As for the Eagles - A. They'd have had to wait months for the Eagles to get word and show up. The Orcs would have stormed the gates and killed everyone by then.
B. Stealth was essential. Flying towards a giant floating eyeball on huge Eagles isn't actually subtle.

Al, I hear what you're saying, and I know you're right about small details being sometimes harder to swallow, but still, we are discussing whether or not we are accurately killing a Dragon with our Orcs, Tauren, Night Elves, and Gnomes. We are discussing whether or not the Werewolves that inhabit our fictional 2 moon world are accurately describing the phases of those moons.
So, I guess my point would be this: There is more to making a compelling story than 100% accuracy, particularly in the fantasy genre, when we are dealing with fictional places, creatures, and circumstances. Maybe the writers at Blizz make some mistakes, or maybe there are lore reasons behind everything they do. It is probably the former, but for the sake of enjoyment, why not believe the latter?
TL;DR--Next time I run into a Worgen, Illidan or Deathwing, I'll make sure to ask them the meaning of their slogans and why they do the things they do. Until then, I'm going to assume that they have their reasons.
Khirsah Jan 23rd 2012 12:03AM
Actually, Al, I'm going to try to make my point a different way, because I'm just not happy with what I said above. What I wouldn't give for an edit button.
Fiction, whether books, movies, tv, or video games, is more enjoyable when the writer is removed from the readers consciousness. In other words, if Illidan makes a mistake, look at it as Illidan's mistake, not some faceless writer's. Does that make any sense?
Part of the fun is not taking it too seriously, but just immersing yourself in a fictional world and interacting with fictional characters. When you start asking questions like: "why did the author do that?", you are lifting that illusion, and remembering that the world you were enjoying is just the product of someone's imagination, and that someone is as prone to mistakes as anyone else. You then start finding those little mistakes in every aspect of the work.
So, I guess what I'm saying to all you people that are nitpicking these details is: "QUIT RUININ' MAH IMMERSHUN!!!!!"
Al Jan 23rd 2012 12:52AM
With things in a lull until MoP, I think minds are going to get bored and focus on stuff like this until something new hapens. Plus, an internet game centred around interaction with other people can't have the immersion of something like Dune, which expects us to buy a hell of a lot more.

"With things in a lull until MoP, I think minds are going to get bored and focus on stuff like this until something new hapens."
True enough. Now that you mention it, I seem to remember a lot of similar discussions toward the end of Wrath. I guess familiarity breeds contempt.
Pyromelter Jan 23rd 2012 1:28AM
I get your point, but the Eagles have 2 very good reasons they didn't just fly frodo in.
First, had they just flown into mordor, they would have been easily spotted and taken down. (They only fly in once barad dur, the ring, and sauron are destroyed)
Second is the ring itself. Its allure may have proven too much for an eagle to not just kill frodo and take the ring for himself.
SSo while suspension of disbelief is important, sometimes there can be reasonable explanations within the context of the story that adequately explain the "why didn't they"s of a story.

Just as the first Annual Pass got us Diablo III for free, I'm really hoping we get another Annual Pass at some point that gets WoW players Warcraft IV for free, as a game that, as others have suggested, sets the stage for the next expansion - instead of putting it in novels or whathaveyou, it's in a game that wow players get for free. It's not in-game lore, technically, but I still think it'd be swank.

Q4 the Q
I see a lot of music posted in the Queue but I never see Loudness. Being that Mists Of Pandaria is coming soon, and that the Loudness should be the unofficial-official band of that expansion, can we expect more Loudness in future queues?

They are werewolves ... the light of the new moon is when they are in control of themselves aka as far away from the fullmoon as possible.
iain Jan 23rd 2012 9:53AM
QUESTION. Is T14 going to be the first tier since BT/hyjal with no dragon bosses?
iain Jan 23rd 2012 9:56AM
Balls, i forgot about ToCr. other than that then.
ghola Jan 23rd 2012 8:53AM
I thought the Whale Shark was pretty massive and a contender for largest animal in Azeroth, but then I remembered those two enormous turtles in Vashjir. I'm pretty sure those are bigger than the bones of Galakrond.
Yamara34 Jan 23rd 2012 10:08AM
Those are Ancients. And yeah, those guys look to me like the biggest!
Yamara34 Jan 23rd 2012 10:09AM
Maybe Galakrond was just the longest with his tail. Then again, inside them there's a whole damn temple and several rooms. You need a ground mount to effectively get around.
Yamara34 Jan 23rd 2012 10:10AM
Wait, they've got huge tentacles that burrow into the seabed too
evoxpisces Jan 23rd 2012 9:51AM
This made me LOL. Thanks for that.

I believe the New Moon reference is more speaking of New (worgen are a new playable race) as oppossed to Old (no such thing as an old moon)
Worgen have existed since vanilla, but never as a playable race, but when they became a playable race, they are trying to start a new world order with themselves at the forefront.
Just my own interpretation...I could be wrong.
