I'm of the "Don't put guild houses in because I don't want empty cities" camp, but if they do, Blizzard could charge rent perhaps on a weekly or monthly basis as a form of gold sink.

I sorta like the idea of building them directly into various cities, but considering how many guilds there are, rent would need to be pretty high to prevent some bank alt coming along and squatting them on Day 1.
