Official patch notes for patch 4.3.2

Update: The patch will not be releasing today after all, barring some sort of miracle. Remember, if Blizzard hasn't said it, it isn't guaranteed. Sorry! But heck, why don't you brush up on your patch notes anyway?
World of Warcraft Patch 4.3.2
Classes: General
- Vengeance is no longer triggered by receiving damage from other players.
Druids
- The Tier 13 Balance Druid 4-piece bonus now also increases the damage of Starsurge by 10%, in addition to its current effect.
Hunters
- Aspect of the Hawk now grants roughly 35% more attack power.
- Deterrence now also reduces damage taken by 30% while active.
- Black Arrow now ticks every 2 seconds for 20 seconds, as opposed to every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The total damage dealt by the ability is unchanged.
- Lock and Load no longer benefits Arcane Shot, nor is it consumed by Arcane Shot.
Mages
- Fireball damage has been reduced by roughly 6%.
- Pyroblast damage has been reduced by roughly 6%.
Paladins
- Holy Radiance now costs 40% of base mana, up from 35%.
Priests
- Mass Dispel should again prefer dispelling targets that have magic effects that can be dispelled.
Dungeons & Raids
- You can now form same-faction raids with Real ID friends, allowing you to enter Raid Finder in groups larger than 5, run older normal or heroic raids, or participate in Battlegrounds. You will not yet be able to run normal or heroic Dragon Soul with cross-realm raids of Real ID friends.
- Several typo fixes and clarified descriptions have been added to the Dungeon Journal entries for Dragon Soul.
- Players can no longer win multiple copies of the same item on a single Raid Finder boss kill. For example, a player who chooses Need on two set piece tokens or two weapons and wins the first, will not be eligible for the second on that particular boss.

Looks like a delay, and if Boub says there is one, there doubtlessly is one.

Oh well. I only ever pvped on my protection paladin. Now that is even less viable than before.

Prot is only good for flag carrying and paladins are the worst of the bunch. Go ret for pvp, its a blast.

The next wave of QQ about loot rolls:
Player X rolls 199 for the 1st item and 187 for the 2nd (duplicate) item.)
The next highest rolls for each item are: Player Y rolls 188 on the 1st while player Z rolls 165 on the 2nd.
Player X wins the 1st item, and then Player Z wins the 2nd.
Player Y QQs cause had a roll higher than Player Z, but still lost...
IMO, they when multiple items drop, they should lump ALL the rolls into a single pool. If a single person has the top two rolls, throw one out and then go with the next highest overall.
Ellyon Jan 24th 2012 7:26AM
Wouldn't it be easier to just program it to say that no duplicate loot drops? Straightforward, and gets rid of all these secondary loot issues.
Chase Jan 24th 2012 7:41AM
Or, if more than one drops. Handle it all in one roll. Instead of two.

ZOMG a math word problem

You aren't rolling for one of three [Mace of Hurt]s though, you're rolling for a [Mace of Hurt] or a [Mace of Hurt] or a [Mace of Hurt]. As silly as that last bit sounds, it's a very important difference. It's like a celebrity tossing out novelty hats at a concert - you don't toss one and then go "Oh, well you two were the next closest, so you get the other two". You give each hat it's own "chance to win" event. Loot works the same way. Each item is a chance. It's like those people that see "1% chance to drop", kill the boss 100 times, and then complain that the item didn't drop - chance doesn't work like that.
@Ellyron
Chances are they're using something like:
while(item is being rolled for)
When(a player rolls)
{
if(current player roll > last player roll)
remember current player
if(current player roll = last player roll)
remember both players
}
if(two players remembered)
{
reroll player one
reroll player two
if(player one roll > player two roll)
give item to player one
else
give item to player two
}
else
give item to highest roll player
//Coders: I'm sorry, it hurt me too.
If they were to put all the rolls into one pool, they would have to store that data. not a big deal for a small number of rolls, but when you consider how many would be needed at once, it's a big deal. It's one of those tiny until it's in a mmo details.

I never understood the whole loot-whining-in-LFR issues...until yesterday. Long story short, two shamans (one of them resto (me), the other elemental), and witnessed the other shaman get the role bonus for a spell mail, two spirit mail, and an agi weapon (and won them all), leaving me scratching my head how the heck this system is supposed to work.
Can someone please explain this to me? I submitted a ticket to Blizzard and they basically told me to stop whining about loot. Except that, I'm not whining, I'm trying to figure out how this happened, and if the player was somehow gaming the system by switching specs before rolling.
Kakume Jan 24th 2012 9:49AM
Alysandir, it doesn't differentiate by spec, only by role. Enhancement and Elemental can roll need on the same loot; if both DPS and healer get a role bonus for a given piece of loot then all three of you are in equal contention.
The fact that the bonus doesn't differentiate by spec is something that Blizzard have acknowledged, but fixing it seems to require some internal work that isn't really feasible to get into the game before Mists.
Alysandir Jan 24th 2012 10:06AM
@Kakume
So, in my example, you're saying that the ele shaman got the role bonus because the agi axe was classified as a DPS/Tank item, the spell mail was classified as a DPS item, and the spirit mail was classified as a DPS/Heal item? (As I did not receive the role bonus for the spell mail or agi axe, I'm making this leap of intuition.)
But does it then not follow that slotting as a DPS role grants you the role bonus to pretty much anything that drops that you can use, with the possible exception of gear that has tank-only stats (dodge, parry) on it? Further, does that not also follow that there would be no explicit Heal-only items, since anything a healer can use, a caster DPS could use, with the exception of spell plate?
If that's the case, it seems pretty heavy-handed for the healers...

Every player eligible for an item gets a roll, and a winner is chosen and is eliminated from the next roll pool for duplicated items. The rest of the players eligible gets a roll for the next duplicated items, and the same process is repeated until there are no more duplicated items. The rest of the non duplicated items get rolls as usual (with all the classes restrictions, role bonus, etc)
Is not that complicated.
steve Jan 24th 2012 2:07PM
Loot eligibility is not determined by tank/heal/dos role. It is according to class. Paladins are eligible for plate. Shamans for mail. Both will be eligible for a caster ring. Only the paladin for a tank shield.

I'd have to admit, that I actually don't care for they "no loot to the same person twice" rule, for this fact:
Let's say two daggers drop off a boss, and there is only one person that rolls need on both of them. Now, because they will win the first one, they automatically become ineligible for the second? How does that make sense?
What I would prefer to see is something where if you roll need on two items, and you win the first item, the bonus 100 roll that is added to your roll is removed. That way, if more than one person rolls on the items, there is no way for that person to win the second.
Dagger 1:
Person A - 87 + 100
Person B - 80 + 100
Dagger 2:
Person A - 100 + 0
Person B - 1 + 100
Pretty simple if you ask me.

Two rolls or one roll ? Suppose 2 weapons drop, 4 people need it, in 1 roll you have 50% you win 1 weapon. In two rolls you have 1/4 chance for the first roll and 1/3 for the 2nd roll. That is 58%. Btw if the winner is not removed from the 2nd roll, you have a chance of 1/16 to win 2 weapons. Btw I think they should implement a raidroll. If 25 people want it, you should not roll 25 times (25d100) but only 1 with 25 numbers (1d25)
