Breakfast Topic: Who's the new star of the expansion?

But she's not the only one. Take, for example, Johnny Awesome over in Hillsbrad Foothills -- or any of the three "players" you encounter during the Welcome to the Machine quest, really. All of them are reflections of us, in a hysterical, larger-than-life way. Or Lorna Crowley, who introduced herself in Gilneas City with a flower in her hair and a shotgun in her hands. Or Salhet, the weak link in the Tol'vir army who tries his best, even if he isn't amazing at hand-to-hand combat.
There were tons of new NPCs introduced with Cataclysm, but Mylune stands out as one of my favorites, just because she makes me recall the first time I ever clicked on a dryad in vanilla WoW and was greeted with a cheery "Hi there!" in reply. Do you have a favorite NPC that was introduced with Cataclysm? Who stands out in your mind?

This was the first sentence I heard when I clicked a Dryad for the first time in Warcraft 3, and fell in love with Dryads. When I first saw a Dryad in WoW I immediately clicked her: "Ahhh, the great outdoors". I smiled.
Years later I see Mylune in Hyjal and click her (Is there trouble?) and read the quest: I fell in love with Dryads again

I had an e-crush on Lorna Crowley the moment i saw her on that dress and the shotgun. It's a shame that you barely see any action from gilneans after level 15...

Tholo and Anren, the cross-faction druid dream team. Hope to see more of them when we sail for Kungfu-Pandaland.

Ugh. They were too much, what with every other word being the other's name.

I also really enjoy Mylune.
Also
Tholo and Anren!

I love Fiona and her pet paladins in EPL. That whole quest chain is pure gold, and one of the few I looked forward to doing again on alts.

So many... But probably our favorite Paladin Pals, Gidwin and Tarenar.

My favorite would be the female gnome in Gadgetzan who handles noggenfozzer and tries to trump the horde goblin, can't remember her name, but I ended up going through her complete quest line since I loved her character so much.

I cant remember her name either but she was awesome *_*

Megs Dreadshredder :)
She figures prominently in the goblin starting area, as well. If you haven't played through it yet, it's worth rolling a goblin just to experience it.

The crew from Fiona's caravan - they were the reason I completed all of EPL after Cata, having completed it before the world fell apart and Nathanos got stuck in UC.

Rheastrasza.

I'll distract the enemy with my human call! "I'm so wasted, I'm so WASTED!"
Melvyl Jan 25th 2012 9:48AM
Stormcaller Myrla - "I'm a daughter of the Wildhammer Clan and a shaman of the Earthen Ring. My code compels me to honor my ancestors and the elements. Doesn't say a damn thing about dog-ugly ogres."
I love that tiny, angry woman.

I did not like her at all. Her voice is annoying and her quest promotes the use of torture in order to procure information. Not a good lesson.

Mylra single-handedly makes grinding through Deepholm each subsequent time for Therazane rep tolerable. She has to be reused. Must. Fuck yeah badass female dwarves.
@ mord: It's World of WARcraft, not World of Peaceful Negotiationscraft. When the enemy is a crazed manifestation of DEATH you kind of have to take some drastic measures. Not to mention she went out of her way to be sure her charge wouldn't come to real harm. She didn't do much worse than shine a desk light on 'im and interrogate.
In The Lion King II, a Disney movie, Kiara offers Zira a hand-up while hanging from a cliff to prevent her death despite her crimes. In the original take, Zira throws herself off the cliff willingly, but even the version that made it to Disney audiences has her refuse the help and fall. Seeing no difference here, and Disney's kind of the go-to family friendly morality of the West, even if it's not infallible. If it works for a G-movie, it works for an ESRB Teen.

Just to follow-up, by the time we get there, Mor'norokk has slaughtered the entire crew of an Alliance Gunship, used that to knock a Horde Zeppelin out of the sky killing that crew, and then pretends to surrender only to grab you by the throat and attempt to drop you to your death.
Myrla's version of "Enhanced Interrogation," which was really a simple illusion, never bothers me at all.
mord Jan 26th 2012 12:53AM
a common misperception
threat of death, even when there is no real danger, is still torture
I know its a game and filled with violence, but I think I'm entitled to dislike quests that have you torture people. There's one in Borean Tundra as well.
Yoco Jan 26th 2012 2:09AM
Aye, when I saw today's topic, Stormcaller Mylra was the first NPC to come to my mind. I'd sure like to see that "tiny angry woman" around a bit more...
themightysven Jan 25th 2012 9:47AM
don't forget Gwen Armstead. (where's my jaunty top hat blizzard?)
I'm also a fan of Clan Dunwald
