Addon Spotlight: Twitter followers recommend addons, again

Once in a while, I head over to Twitter and ask my followers for information. Some answers are just found better through crowdsourcing. People send recommendations to my Twitter and email accounts unprompted, as you might expect, but when the floodgates open with a call for submissions, people like to put their dog in the race.
I recently hit up Twitter for another round of addons recommended by my Twitter followers. These addons run the gamut from old favorites that will never die to new dynamos that shook up the addon community. Be sure to follow me on Twitter so that you always know when I make a call for submissions and get your favorite recommendations into the column.
@orkchop recommends two
We all know prolific commenter @orkchop from, well, pretty much everywhere around here. When I asked for submissions for this recommendation column, @orkchop fired back quickly with two great picks. (I can usually count on him for at least one, but two picks is just being spoiled.)
@orkchop's first recommendation is Chef's Hat, a wonderful fire-and-forget type of addon that makes sure you've got your Chef's Hat on when you open up the cooking skill menu. Much how AutoTabard revolutionized my life when it came to tabards and reputation grinding, Chef's Hat revolutionized cooking in a big way. That damn hat was never on when I would start a big order, and I'd leave the computer only to return hatless and in the middle of my cooking queue. So much sadness.
While I haven't had any incidents as bad as my last cooking snafu, Chef's Hat has performed admirably when called upon to do its duty of putting a hat on my head so that I can magically cook food faster.
@orkchop recommends Chef's Hat. Get it at [Curse].
@orkchop's second recommendation is an addon that I already know, love, and have put on the Spotlight. That addon is Bad Boy Anti-spam, a great tool for filtering out unwanted language and ASCII art pictures and blocking gold seller whispers in-game. Not only does BadBoy Anti-Spam work well, it's lightweight so it won't bog you down.
Paired up with BadBoy_CCleaner, this addon can keep chat sparkling clean, free of unwanted words that are plugged in to a filter. If you've got a child who plays World of Warcraft, this might be a great addon so you can set what is appropriate language for your child to see in chat, above and beyond the included profanity filters. BadBoy is one of the best addons out there for adding a little bit of peace of mind to your gameplay experience.
@orkchop also recommends BadBoy Anti-Spam Automatic Reporter. Get it at [Curse] or [WoWInterface].
Also check out BadBoy_CCleaner at [Curse] and [WoWInterface].
@goblin_aspect recommends iSold
I cannot believe I've gone as long as I have without an addon like iSold as part of my core kit. Believe me, when I first got this recommendation, I was absolutely blown away at how such a simple little addon could change so much. Take not, other games in this very same genre -- addon creators fix a lot of quality of life problems that you don't have to.
iSold plays a cash register bell sound when one of your auctions gets picked up on the Auction House. World of Warcraft already gives you a text alert and your eventual profits at the mailbox, but if you miss that initial text, you might not know that money is on the way. With iSold, you'll always know when your wares are flying off the shelves, quickly heading back to continue destroying the markets atop your golden towers.
I wonder how many times the bell would go off for that 1 million gold guy ...
@goblin_aspect recommends iSold. Get it on [Curse].

@AltosgGold on Twitter offered up MogIt, the premiere transmogrification addon that shows you where items drop, sorts items by approximate colors, and helps you plan out transmogrification outfits by saving and viewing sets of armor that you create. You'll be on your way to beauty with MogIt, I guarantee.
MogIt! has already been a featured player here on Addon Spotlight before -- but seriously, is there a cooler addon than MogIt? Need to figure out what amazing set of yellow pants will go with your new golden shoulders? How about finding the drop location to a really sweet axe? Maybe a hard-to-find item has the same model somewhere easier to find? MogIt has got your back.
You're going to be happy with MogIt's robust interface, complete with saved item sets, a preview room, and loads of tools to help you zoom in and out, turn your character, and much more. The whole addon is modular, so you aren't loading armor or weapons that you don't need until you request them. It's a slick addon; if you're into transmog at all, you're going to appreciate everything about it.
It's literally all here, kids. Transmog has never been easier.
@AltosGold recommends MogIt, so you should check it out at [Curse].
Twitter is a great place to ask questions to me or our community. If you're not into the whole Twitter thing, you should comment below on some of your favorite addons and help out other commenters who might need a recommendation themselves. Thank you to all of you who sent in an addon submission on Twitter, and I really appreciate your feedback.
If you'd like to see your addon featured on Addon Spotlight or just want to recommend an addon that you'd like to see in the column, please email me at mat@wowinsider.com with Addon Spotlight somewhere in the title or email. (Filters are fussy, you know.) I'll tell you a secret -- usually if you email me, something happens.
See you guys next week.

Totally off topic, maybe a subject for another day (maybe already covered somewhere I'm to lazy to look for), but I'm really curious as to why there is usually such a huge difference between the numbers you see in Recount as opposed to the numbers you see in Skada. Very recently, in an LFR, my dps for the current fight differed by almost 10k (Skada was higher, consistently). This was one of the LFR's from Hell where they started booting the bottom 5 dps after the first fight and naturally, Recount numbers were what they posted.
I wasn't in line to get booted, but I posted my Skada numbers in retaliation. Skada showed a completely different bottom end, but the Recount numbers won that round and ppl were removed. I dropped group.
So, any idea as to what the difference is?
Devin Jan 26th 2012 10:40AM
I don't know about a 10k difference but i'm fairly certain that recount starts calculating dps when you first attack as opposed to skada which calculates from when you first enter combat. These numbers, however, should be fairly similar if you start dps'ing right away (don't pull threat from being too hasty though :P). Regardless, your damage done on any particular fight should be the same and if damage matters this should be what you're looking at.
Devin Jan 26th 2012 10:49AM
I may have that backwards:
recount-starts calculating when you first enter combat
skada-starts calculating when you first attack
SaveMyTree Jan 26th 2012 11:05AM
Which would make Skada actually more accurate for dps? Damage is what kills bosses, but dps is what gets ppl kicked, so I'd like to be able to make a coherent argument when the time comes.
slim1256 Jan 26th 2012 11:32AM
If it's that big a deal - post total damage done. That's usually a better indicator anyway.
I do have to say - in comparing my Skada results with World of Logs, (anecdotally) Skada seems to agree pretty closely with WoL calculated DPS.

I've noticed a couple of times in the past few months that people using Recount started complaining that I did zero in heroic 5-mans and tried to kick me. I showed them my Skada results which showed me at the top by a large margin, but they refused to believe me a called me a noob and a leacher. I proved it through simple math, you cant possibly kill that boss with the combined damage done from their meters when the boss has more health than that. It seems Recount has far more parsing bugs and errors than Skada. I have no irregular characters in my name so that can't be it either.
Pyromelter Jan 26th 2012 1:45PM
In my experience, recount is the more accurate mod over skada when comparing to world of logs. The reason it uses up so much resources is that it processes everything, including filtering some things.
I agree with the poster saying damage done matters most; dps itself can be skewed by multiple factors, but it's damage done that makes the difference.
The most accurate thing you can do IMO is to run the world of logs external application that automatically uploads your fights. Then just put the link in raid chat, if the linked dps numbers are off.

Skada doesn't begin recording until you attack the boss yourself, or heal someone whose attacking the boss, which can leave significant portions of the dps out of the equation if you were "late" to the party to begin playing at times.
World of logs actually shows both (dps, vs dps(e)) on their logs, and the number variance is usually only 1-2k difference in my experience, not 10k difference, the only time I usually see that wide of a spread is when someone forgot to reset their meter before recording.
LFR is beyond easy, and people are for the most part able to completely SKIP mechanics of the fights and still win. I've been in groups with 6 healers, and only 3 of the healers were actually actively healing and we still beat the encounter, it's 10m difficulty (more or less) with 25 people, so why anyone is kicking anyone over low dps I don't really get. If the boss is dying, no need to kick anyone.

Are there any addons you know of that make buying multiple stacks of vendor items easy. So far the best way I have found is to use the stack function and type in the maximum amount. However when I want to buy 1000’s of items it still becomes a painful task. Any recommendations are welcome.
Lars Petersson Jan 26th 2012 11:08AM
I'm not sure if it is exactly what you're after, but I use FreeRefills (Available from Curse) which kinda does that.
Namssob Jan 26th 2012 12:22PM
The TSM (TradeSkillMaster) addon will do this, but only for items in your shopping list that are needed for crafting. So if I need 1000 Jeweler's Settings, it will buy all 1000 of them when I click on the button. But I can't tell it how many to buy.
Joyride Jan 26th 2012 12:24PM
Try GnomishVendorShrinker (Available from Curse) Click the arrow by the price and enter the amount
Eyhk Jan 26th 2012 1:00PM
I use ReagentRestocker. It allows you to set up a Buy list and amount so that whenever you visit a vendor, it automatically restocks to the set amount. Great for glyphs where you need 500 parchments in one go. You can also set up reputation requirements for the discount, and Sell lists that automatically vendor certain items.

BuyEmAll does exactly what you want.

Now, if only there was a way that I would know if an auction an alt posted was sold, I'd be happier...

Mobile Auction House?
Lars Petersson Jan 27th 2012 9:01AM
I have the mobile auction house, and it is pretty good, but on my phone you can't use the AH function for an account that you are logged into the game with :-/
Katherine Jan 26th 2012 1:24PM
Mogit is terrible. Couldn't figure out how to get it to display my T13 so I could find a decent match for belt/boots/shirt. Turns out the healer VP belt/boots and the ones that drop in DS are a match for paladin t13, but I'd never have known before actually getting them in game.
