The Daily Quest: No BlizzCon makes us sad pandaren
WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining
WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
One of the big stories this week is BlizzCon -- or rather, the lack of BlizzCon this year. While I understand the amount of work that goes into making an event as large as BlizzCon successful and I understand that the hours served putting the convention together would better be used on, you know, cool games, I'm still bummed. Partially because last year's convention was so much fun, but mostly because it means I don't get to see everyone again this year. Ah well, I have remodeling to do anyway!
But the rest of the blogosphere has its own reactions regarding the absence of the beloved convention, and we've got a couple of those for you today, as well as a look at a possibly volatile topic.
Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our WoW Resources Guide for more WoW-related sites.

- Apple Cider Mage expresses regret and reflects on the real reasons BlizzCon is such an amazing time for players.
- Orcish Army Knife has a delightful tongue-in-cheek parody of the whole BlizzCon cancellation situation.
- And in other news, Falling Leaves and Wings wonders just what exactly is so bad about letting 10-man raiding and 25-man raiding be two different things?

What will Jay Mohr do for a year without a paycheck?

What, you mean you think he can't get other work? Who WOULDN'T want the kind of... umm.... THAT you see in the video? ;p
I think they canceled Blizzcon this year because they Jay needs another year to work on his material. And lord knows they can't have Blizzcon without the painful awkwardness that is Jay Mohr hosting.

Between his weekly podcast, comedy shows and acting in a film atm; I'm sure he'll be ok.

Hey I like Jay Mohr as Blizzcon host ^^
Shinae Jan 27th 2012 10:28AM
I like him as a host, too, but at the same time, I recognize that he's good at making really awkward comments. He's like... a guy one would run into in public Vent channel.

Jay is like your older brother who hangs out in the doorway while you raid. He just got back from football practice and he's seeing how the geeky half lives. He's not saying anything overtly critical of your hobby, but you know that right on the tip of his tongue is, "Jesus, what a dork." But, he says something about how awesome that one dragon-lookin' thing is, crop-dusts your computer desk and leaves.

Funny than Anne mentions the blogospehere's reactions to the 'no blizzcon in 2012 message' - here's my own lol:

On Jay Mohr as a host - I like him, but I dig that style of humor.

I agree to what Apple Cider Mage writes... sure, it is totally understandable regarding the jam-packed schedule and no presentable new products, but still... even though the announcement of, say, the new WOW expansion always was that big moment of suspense and stuff, I love the vibe of Blizzcon.
To me, it never was just about the actual announcements, but also about the atmosphere, the chance to hang out with other players, to meet up and take part in stuff like the panels (which I have watched many times).
So if you ask me, I'd be totally fine with a Blizzcon without that huge announcement (if it was just about that, the whole affair could be over in an hour), but of course, I understand Blizz's reasoning there
