I have never roleplayed before ever in my life. Never played DnD or any of those other games. I've been thinking about trying out a warrior cause I never played one before and thought about trying it out on a RP server. I've been playing on the same server for 7 years so I wasn't really sure how to go about finding a new server so I just made a new characters (horde) on a few servers and just asked around.Argent Dawn told me that no one ever roleplays except maybe if you're an Alliance, Moon Guard told me not to bother unless I made a female Blood Elf, and Wyrmrest Accord told me that the last big RP event they knew about was an "Escape From Icecrown" back in Wrath (though the people I was talking to on this server were a lot friendlier than AD or MG).So what servers do ya'll play on, what are ya'lls experience with said server, and what do I need to know to get started on roleplaying? (This article already taught me a lot of things about coming up with a story. Great read!)

Zodiac,Do you have any friends that RP, or would be interested to start? That's not a bad place to start. As for servers it's generally best to test the water. Find an RP server that is at least medium population during the times you normally play. Just don't ask trade chat for advise on the server. For the most part you will only find yourself trolled. It's better to speak with guilded folk, officers especially. As for Moonguard, well hey at least they have this going for them:http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/12/08/the-broken-doll-roleplaying-storyline-chills-hundreds-on-moon-gu/

Whenever someone tells me there isn't roleplaying on Wyrmrest I think they must have confused the server with another one or are walking around the cities with their eyes shut. There is roleplaying going on in the streets and Taverns pretty much 24/7. Same with RP Guilds recruiting in trade and general. If you're Alliance try Stormwind. There are also Night Elf only guilds that I have frequently seen in Darn and other Night Elf territories. Horde are a little more spread out, mostly among Orgrimmar, Silvermoon and Undercity (Brill as well) As for events there is the Tauren Story Circle in TB and Club Trixx in Dal. There is the Bards of Azeroth performances and holiday events. Getting a roleplaying addon like MyRoleplay or FlagRP will make it easier to spot the roleplayers. Basically you need to get off your butt and stop whining about your RP not being delivered on a silver platter and go out and find(and make) it.

Hey possum, about that last comment. If you're implying Zodiac is being lazy I think you're off base. Either that or you weren't exactly clear because it seems as though you're speaking directly to them. They're new to RP, as their post says. Now there are lazy role players out there, not many but yes some just want to have a story handed to them. More than likely the people you're talking about aren't there to RP as much as waste their time and yours. This is why I advised he avoid asking trade chat.So yes there are lazy folks, but for them I believe it is a product of expecting games to mirror other media. This is because they think of entertainment as something passive, something that happens for them, much like watching a movie. Not only are video games vastly different than this kind of media, but role playing (via pen or keyboard) requires even more investment than some video games.

Yeah, ask a question in Trade and the trolls will answer. :-P I play almost exclusively Horde on Moon Guard. It's a great server, with lots of roleplay regardless of race. The best way to get started with roleplay is to develop a character, and walk up and start talking to people. On MG-H you can consistently find roleplayers hanging out in the Valley of Honor (and randomly all over Azeroth), and several guilds host regular RP events. Check out the official forums, roll a lowbie and just jump in!

Well I don't mean to be rude it's just that every other day I seem to see people yelling "Roleplaying is dead, there is no roleplaying!" While ignoring the numerous roleplaying opportunities around them. I find it especially boggling that anybody could think WrA didn't have any roleplaying on it! I literally don't understand how someone could walk around say Stormwind and come to that conclusion. The other information still stands though. As ever, you have to look for the roleplaying to find it.

I guarantee, there are roleplayers on every RP realm; it's just a matter of finding them.I am a Horde-only roleplayer on Argent Dawn-US in a guild of other roleplayers. I know a few other Horde RP guilds there, too. Granted, it's much more difficult to find PUG RP on a realm that isn't MG or WrA, but that doesn't mean that roleplayers are not on the other realms.
