Lor'themar Theron: In the Shadow of the Sun
Blizzard Entertainment is proud to present the latest entry in the "Leaders of Azeroth" short story series: In the Shadow of the Sun!
Lor'themar was not any surer of his thoughts by the day Aethas was scheduled to arrive. As he made his way through Sunfury Spire to the front hall where the archmage would appear, Halduron stopped him, holding out a small bundle of soft crimson wool. Lor'themar took it and held it up as it unfolded, beholding a regal golden phoenix upon its field: the Silvermoon City tabard.
"No," he said curtly, shoving the garment back at his friend.
"You should wear it," Halduron pressed.
"What does it matter?" he answered, striding forward. "Anyone in the service of Silvermoon may bear it."
"It is the symbol of state," Halduron called after him. "You are the head of state. You should look the part."
"I am the regent lord," Lor'themar said, continuing to walk away. "Not the king."

Wow, I'm really disappointed. Can they please stop rehashing this story? I've read it a total of three times under the guise of "new Blood Elf/Lor'themar lore". Honestly! I get it! The girl writes really well in character! But it's not a literary masterpiece, nor is reading Lor'themar hold a wine glass or twist fabric in extreme detail that interesting! I hate how the belf's and draenei are being shelved like they are.
People argue that since the Draenei are perfect, they have no story value. The Draenei aren't perfect, they are zealous. You know who else happened to be zealous? The Scarlet Crusade, look at their story. The Draenei just get away because they happen to be zealous to the right thing. Still, any extremist can be dangerous. Is it so hard for them to make a Draenei who believes he should destroy all the races that employ warlocks? Or maybe their could be a draenei that really hates orcs. Just cause Velen is super pious and virtuous doesn't mean every Draenei is. What about the new Draenei children being born? They probably don't have the same values or memories of the rest of the Draenei, DO SOMETHING WITH THEM.
Same with the Blood Elves. They seem chummy with Sylvanas, maybe they're secretly helping her conquer human lands. They've rebuilt their nation, aren't they now ready to lash out against the race that doomed them? Also, I read somewhere (I hate not having a link) but I think it was a blue post saying that not all Blood Elves wish to relinquish their magic for that holy/arcane blend they have coming out of the Sunwell. Make a rebel faction!
Honestly, whoever says the BC races have no story potential is full of crap. The Blizzard writers just are too busy focusing on Thrall, Sylvanas, Vol'jin, and new expansions. Therein lies the problem.

Just a minor note: The story has actually been somewhat rewritten from the original fanfic version, with certain details changed, removed, or added.
So if you read the original version, you might want to read it again.
I do wish that they'd extensively altered it to bring it up to date with current events (they could've kept the same basic story outline and just updated it), but it was a pretty good story to begin with.

Wow, everyone is so upset about the rerelease of an old story. I understand why, but, hell, it's a damn good story. In fact, i've enjoyed it so much that i'm going to have to go home and roll ANOTHER blood elf after I finish work, because it's rekindled my love for them.
If only I had the money to faction change all my level 85 chars (back) to blood elves. Maybe I'll buy some lotto tickets...
