Not to be a Debbie Downer, but Locks of Love is not a great organization. They sell most of the hair they get. They've received as much as 10,000 wigs worth of hair in a year, but only made 113 wigs, and sold the rest (see their Wikipedia page). Wikipedia claims they made almost $2 million one year from sales of hair, and this money did not go to their charity.
Pantene Beautiful Lengths is a more reputable hair donation company (I think). There have been no reports of them selling hair and making a profit.
You can also do what I did, which is sell your hair online, and then donate the money to a cancer charity of your choice.
