Blizzard forums MVP calls fellow PvPers to arms

I think this sort of player participation is really important. Much as I'm a fan of pew-pew over QQ, constructive criticism is a great thing. Eldacar wants to know your opinion on the current Mists of Pandaria PvP proposals and what you love about PvP, as well as what your PvP gripes are from Cataclysm.
What's great about our particular omniscient deity in Azeroth is that Blizzard not only listens but responds. And, if it gets enough consistent feedback about something, it may well do something about it. So if you have something constructive to say, get over there and say it! You could shape the future of Azeroth.
However, what nobody is looking for is OMG Blizz nerf mages like now! -- so just don't, OK?
Here are Eldacar's guidance questions to think about when posting:
- What are your biggest PVP-related quality of life issues (things that are an inconvenience but don't significantly affect gameplay or balance)?
- What Cataclysm BG changes and additions did you like?
- What Cataclysm Arena changes and additions did you like?
- What Cataclysm general PVP changes and additions did you like?
- What are your top issues with Battlegrounds in Cataclysm?
- What are your top issues with Arenas in Cataclysm?
- What are your top issues with general PVP in Cataclysm?
I can definitely think of some things to point out, and I'm sure you can too.

Do you want to capture flags, attack towers, invade cities, and dominate the Arena for your faction? Do you dream of riding your War Bear with pride? We'll steer you to victory with the secrets of PvP, including proven addons and keybindings that win!

Adding resilience was the biggest mistake Blizzard did, it was a lazy, cheap method of attempting to separate PvE from PvP. They know this which is why thankfully it is going in MoP. I may actually PvP again in MoP.

I wanted to post a response but it's on the US forums and there doesn't seem to be an EU equivilent :( Europeans have opinions too!
Anyway, what I wanted to say was about accessibility. Making resiliance a baseline stat will help but there's still going to be a gap and that gap will be important, probably as much so as it is now. With PvE there's the tiered system, you start with normals and get starter gear and justice from those (to buy last tiers gear) and then you get to heroics and get points (to buy this tiers gear) and reasonable gear. Then when you've got a good mix of heroic gear and points gear you could go raid finder to fill in the holes and then raiding proper. There's not such a system with PvP.
So maybe there could be an accessible two forms of battlegrounds (I know there's rated and regular now) so you start with regular which would be like normals to grind honor. Then when you meet a minimum requirement there would be another pvp queue system to queue for heroic battlegrounds where you'd get a certain amount of conquest win or lose so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that you could cap or buy conquest gear (like you can do valor) in order to gear up and then be able to have the gear to look for an arena partner(s)/rated battleground which would be like the pvp equivilent of raiding.
I'd love to be able to get into pvp but the barrier to entry is too high when compared to the PvE side. I've run random battlegrounds over and over and over all day before now and not had much to show for it at the end and even if you do that until you wind up with a complete set of honor gear you still have the experience gap and now another gear gap. As by the time you've managed to get all the honor gear all the previous pvp players will be decked out half in conquest and conquest gear is out of reach without having people to run with but who wants to run with a newbie in (compared to you) poor gear?

Take the PVP requirement out of a holiday achievement. That's got to be a huge PITA for any seriouse PVP'r.

Agreed.

Look, I'm out there every...many of the days on my mage doing all I can to prove that mages certainly do not need nerfs, and in fact can be killed with surprising regularity in BGs.
You're welcome.

Terrible mage is terrible :P
You're obviously not doing something right, like standing behind a pack of meatshields and letting them die first. Or speccing to Frost.

Getting killed regularly in BGs, especially if you don't run as a group, is nothing extraordinary. I really can't tell if you are trolling or if you really are justifying that a class is balanced based on your performance in BGs.
The main concern is in RATED PvP, the kind that matters. Mages dominate in all 3 brackets in Arena as well as in Rated BGs. Of the 4 categories in PvP, namely Output, Utility, Mobility and Survival, Mages excel in the first 3 and are well above average in the 4th. In an Arena setting, that is almost guaranteed to lead to succes for a player with half a brain. As for RBGs, no team runs without at least 1 Mage if they want to be viable.
