One of my mains is a healer, a resto shammy, and really there's very little to do other than throw dirt and water on people and sit back watching fights. Sometimes I throw more water on people, and sometimes I throw a big splash of water on lots of people, but really, that's pretty much my lot in life.I think it would be nice to re-evaluate the healer's job to be more than just "push button so tank no die". Borrowing from other games might be in order, and I'm not even talking about MMOs. 4th edition D&D has the healer role given to a character type called a "leader", and while they do heal, they have other tasks they can do too. They can buff people, let allies attack better or more often, and tailor what they're doing to the situation in more dynamic ways. Yes they heal, yes they keep the tank from dying, but as a healer it's more engaging and more fun because you have to pay attention and optimize those other abilities. I would love to see something like this for WoW - the option to manipulate combat in such a way to make your allies better and do things other than just throw dirt and water (or leaves, holy light, whatever you use) on people.
