Patch 4.3.2 released today, launch your clients early [Updated patch notes]

But we have to put this in bold:
This mandatory optimization can take some time. Launch your game clients early.
Don't expect to open up WoW at 7:55 p.m. tonight and be ready for the raid at 8. Right now, my optimization has been taking well over 30 minutes.
Update 8:15 p.m. EDT New patch notes released today, updated after the break.
Blizzard Entertainment -- World of Warcraft Patch 4.3.2
Table of Contents
- Classes
- Dungeons and Raids
- Items
- User Interface
Classes: General
- Vengeance is no longer triggered by receiving damage from other players.
Druids
- The Tier 13 Balance Druid 4-piece bonus now also increases the damage of Starsurge by 10%, in addition to its current effect.
Hunters
- Aspect of the Hawk now grants roughly 35% more attack power.
- Deterrence now also reduces damage taken by 30% while active.
- Black Arrow now ticks every 2 seconds for 20 seconds, as opposed to every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The total damage dealt by the ability is unchanged.
- Lock and Load no longer benefits Arcane Shot, nor is it consumed by Arcane Shot.
Mages
- Fireball damage has been reduced by roughly 6%.
- Pyroblast initial damage has been reduced by roughly 6%. Damage over time is unchanged.
Paladins
- Holy Radiance now costs 40% of base mana, up from 35%.
Priests
- Mass Dispel should again prefer dispelling targets that have magic effects that can be dispelled.
Rogues
- Adrenaline Rush no longer triggers a global cooldown.
Dungeons & Raids
- You can now form same-faction raids with Real ID friends, allowing you to enter Raid Finder in groups larger than 5, run older normal or heroic raids, or participate in Battlegrounds. You will not yet be able to run normal or heroic Dragon Soul with cross-realm raids of Real ID friends.
- Several typo fixes and clarified descriptions have been added to the Dungeon Journal entries for Dragon Soul.
- Players can no longer win multiple copies of the same item on a single Raid Finder boss kill. For example, a player who chooses Need on two set piece tokens or two weapons and wins the first, will not be eligible for the second on that particular boss.
-
Baradin Hold
- The roaming Eyes of Occu'thar have been replaced by hateful creatures who serve Alizabal.
-
Dragon Soul
-
Yor'sahj the Unsleeping
- The Shaman spell Unleash Life now properly only triggers Deep Corruption on its target. Previously, this affected both the caster and the target.
-
Warmaster Blackhorn
- The visual warning for Twilight Elites' Blade Rush should be easier to see.
-
Spine of Deathwing
- Burning Tendons health has been reduced by 15% in 10- and 25-player Heroic mode. This change eases the burst damage requirement to complete the encounter, which should allow players to make use of more varied raid compositions.
-
Madness of Deathwing
- The Priest spell Leap of Faith is no longer usable while under the effect of Carrying Winds.
-
Yor'sahj the Unsleeping
Items
- Vial of Shadows damage (Lightning Strike) has been reduced to approximately one-third of previous damage. However, it will now trigger approximately 3 times as often. This is intended to keep overall DPS the same while reducing burst damage, especially in PvP.
- Maw of the Dragonlord can now have its effect triggered by healing from Holy Word: Sanctuary.
User Interface
- Fixed a bug that caused the Mature Language Filter to reset on exit.
- A notice is now displayed 15 minutes prior to the player being disconnected by parental controls.

I have seen the rogue weapon get sharded.

Does this "optimization" relate to the 64 bit client? How will they launch that?
Blackdemon Jan 31st 2012 10:32AM
The optimisation is cleanup on your Wow installation directory to remove the obsolete patch files and hopefully return a few GB of disk space to you.
It is nothing to do with the 64 bit client.

"Hunters
Aspect of the Hawk now grants roughly 35% more attack power."
Am I the only one that's really amused by the use of "roughly"? I would love to see the true value. I bet there's a repeating decimal...

Woah! The optimization brought my 25.6GB WoW installation down to 22.1GB, nice job Blizzard!
Starlin Jan 31st 2012 10:32AM
Optimizer took about 4 minutes on my SSD. Reduced my install by 3GB. Nice to have that built into the Launcher now.

Thanks for the heads-up!
My poor holy paladin is going to feel that nerf. :( She's just managed to get geared for LFR, so doesn't have uber-gear yet. Ah well, I should be used to paladin nerfs by now. :P
Although I am very much looking forward to the change to no longer allow one person to win two of the same thing in LFR. It's happened several times on both my main (spriest) and my alt (hpaladin) - someone has won two of the same item and doesn't offer to sell or trade them. It seems to happen most with the weapons off Deathwing - someone will win both and immediately leave. It's clear that they aren't even attempting to sell or give the second one to anyone, since they leave so quickly. And no, they haven't had another guild-mate in the raid to trade the second weapon to, so they aren't doing that. And since these are caster and healing weapons, they can't be dual-wielded, so the person clearly doesn't need two. They just like being a jerk and want to deny someone else getting the weapon.
The worst was my last Deathwing kill on my holy paladin - after wiping several times because people couldn't single-target things, some healers got fed up and left. A new healer came in, just for the last fight and he won both healing weapons that dropped. Then immediately dropped group after he won both of them - no attempt to trade or sell. It was very, very annoying.
wow Jan 31st 2012 11:16AM
I'm not saying that people aren't jerks in the LFR, but it's possible that some people genuinely don't know they've won until later. I've run DS on 4 toons once each (to avoid burnout), and only needing on upgrades and passing on everything else I've had some great luck - at least 1 item every 4-boss chunk, and 3 items in 4 bosses for my warrior. However, I've sometimes had to go back and loot a chest from the previous boss, and in one case on my druid scrolled back through the looooooong roll messages to see who won the healing offhand only to find it was me - I hadn't heard it drop into the bag, and there's too much going on in the chat window to notice at the time.
Of course, there's also asshats that'd pull everything and deliberately ignore instructions. And when my warrior got that sweet 2-hander I instantly got whispered "How much?" by someone who wasn't even on my server. So I took my loot and dropped group right away to avoid drama. Maybe your healer thought, "sweet, I got a weapon", dropped group, and then realised their mistake.

According to a post in the official forums, there will be download information for the 64bit client in the tech support forum once it is available.

This might be a dumb question... but it doesn't look like the nerfs to Dragon Soul are included in this patch. Anyone know when they're supposed to happen?
Thanks!

I just checked my WoW folder's size. 31,6 GB. Impressive!
That covers a very recently backed up screenshots folder (so it's now nearly empty) and about 120 MB of addons. Rest is just WoW.
I'm excited to see the size difference tomorrow, when the patch hopefully hits Europe!
Tri Feb 1st 2012 9:06AM
Hrm...
Started the launcher...
30-40 minutes later - 27,9GB
I have a feeling I still have some extra stuff hidden in my folders. Perhaps it's time for a complete re-install sometime soon (I think the base installation has now followed me through several computers and years.. :P )
Kaiserette Jan 31st 2012 10:41AM
Wasn't the raid finder loot changes also going to not allow people to roll on loot they already owned or was in inventory ?
Edymnion Jan 31st 2012 11:03AM
No, because several specs share the same base item with different gemming/chanting/reforging. Like feral druids, kitties and bears both use the exact same base gear. If it didn't let you roll on stuff you already had, druids would never be able to work on their OS.
kaminari Jan 31st 2012 11:44AM
may be just not let peoplr roll need+ would help with ninjas and not stop people with the OS set
extomar Jan 31st 2012 10:48AM
Sounds like the client is doing scans to throw away old patch data. I did it myself at one point and found patch files all the way back to 2.x in there. I'd love a "clean everything" button in the launcher along with an automatic process.
I'm eager for news on the 64-bit client (is it in or not?) but i do hope that it is "side by side compatible". Getting these details would be very handy just in case players need to switch between the two versions without interfering or ruining your precious settings.
phiplipian Jan 31st 2012 10:57AM
My optimizer isn't even finished running yet and it's already removed over 5G of data from my hard drive. Well done Blizz! :))
mbison Jan 31st 2012 10:58AM
Anyone else think that this is an awfully big patch for just those few patch notes?
