It'll probably vary. I don't know what it's going to do, exactly, but it's probably cleaning out old patches (I hope) and that will likely be the bulk of things for people who've had the game installed on a system for a long time. Even if it's just a few Gigs, it involves optimizing other bits so the game is just better, and thats nice overall...and even that the game cares to do that now and then!
