Patch 4.3.2 64-bit client now functional

Blizzard has also returned the sticky post originally detailing the client to its full, stickied position.
Additional download instructions and further comment can be seen on our original download post.
Enjoy all those bits, everyone! Me? I'll only be using 63 bits, because that's what hipster kids do.

Huzzah! Can't wait to get home from work and give this a go! Any boost big or small is welcome, that's why I got 64 bit in the first place!

What! no 128bit Linux client!?
wutsconflag Feb 1st 2012 3:44PM
How many 128-bit processors do you see?

I wonder if WoW will reach out and utilize more memory? I'm not seeing anywhere near full memory usage on my current 32-bit system and there is always plenty of memory left over for other uses. Having WoW auto-load nearby zones and instances you are going to would sure make things faster but I don't see it doing that now.

Define "full memory usage".
32-bit Windows can only address 3Gig of ram in whole, with some smaller fraction of that per process. Add up the Windows core, other services, and such, and I would bet that there isn't much more than 1.5G left for Wow.

If you want quicker load times you would be better off getting a better HDD or an SSD (Hard Drive and Solid State Drive respectively) then more Memory. WoW on a SSD gives near instant load times.

Yes, and on my system I rarely see WoW utilizing more than 700 MB.
That leaves 800 MB free.
I see the same thing on my 64-bit system with 6 GB of memory. WoW is still only using around 800 MB of memory and I have several GB free.
Perhaps a true 64-bit client will "reach out" more...not too confident about that.

also, 32-bit client on 64-bit windows != 32 bit windows.
in the first situation, 32-bit wow client on 64-bit windows, the client can access a full 2GB of memory (or if it was coded in a certain way, 4GB)

Just as a note for people playing on EU servers, 64bit client isn't currently working, it's giving the same old error message.
Cephas Feb 1st 2012 3:45PM
It seems that the problem was with the servers, so you'll have to wait until the hotfix hits. I imagine that this thread will be updated when that happens: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3313061814?page=1
Alrendar Feb 1st 2012 3:36PM
Doesn't work for the EU Launcher.
Pryn Feb 1st 2012 3:46PM
^This
No getting excited just yet in the EU, error message is the same.
Silversol Feb 1st 2012 5:56PM
The US realms had a restart a day after maintenance, and it worked after the restart. Perhaps same for the EU realms?
incoming00 Feb 1st 2012 3:38PM
nice! cant wait to see what 16GB DDR3 1333mhz RAM can do :D
Johnny.ramos1 Feb 1st 2012 6:38PM
That's basically what I'm sporting, any idea what I'm gonna see?
incoming00 Feb 1st 2012 6:48PM
no idea yet my wow insider friend. i'm still stuck at work and prolly wont be able to get on for another few hours. but i'm sure both of us will see some notable improvement :D
Ominous Feb 1st 2012 3:46PM
Yes, I wondered that about the EURO servers. Glad I am not the only one.
@ Adam Holisky
Could you please look into that?
The 64 bit client doesn't work for me, either. I am in Europe and play on a EURO realm. The linked download does not work for me.
Kakume Feb 1st 2012 4:44PM
Not sure what exactly you want him to look into - it's not working now, Blizzard will make it work later, much like the North American realms. :-)
I'm a bit perplexed by the excitement over something as technical as a (beta) 64 bit client. Are people expecting awesome improvements on foot of this? I see it as more of a scaling thing for the future; maybe some of us have beautiful systems and have been waiting patiently for this, but I can't see it as a giant a must-have-now thing.
Antonius.Prime Feb 1st 2012 4:54PM
@Kakume:
If its a matter of hotfixing servers and the EU has the updated client, shouldn't Blizz in France (and the German data centers) already have the fix also?
Or is that being sent by post?
/sarcasm
Kakume Feb 1st 2012 5:15PM
Perhaps they didn't want to make such a change during daytime hours EU? No sense in risking peak hours disruption for something that's not urgent.
