Carlin is always my go to in concerns and thoughts about language. In a later bit, expanding on the 7 words, he talked about context, and to a certain extent, appropriateness (something he went into better detail about in his autobiography).

If you truly think words don't make a difference, and people are too sensistive (I'm speaking in general now, not specifically to Maymer), drop the f-bomb continuously at work or school; go to an area where there's a high African American population and drop the N-word. go ahead and see what happens.

There's a time and place for everything. I tend to curse like a sailor at times, but I know when and where it's appropriate, that's called common sense, something those who think they can say anything at anytime seem to lack.
