The Queue: A sudden increase in prudishness
"Finally," you're saying right now, "Sacco is back with more YouTube videos of songs he likes." Yer darn right!
Puntable asked:
I'm not sure I really want to ask this question, but here goes. Blizzard has been changing a lot of the armor models on females, such as black mageweave leggings, to cover more skin. Why the sudden increase in prudishness after 6 years?
Well, Black Mageweave Leggings haven't changed since launch. What other instances of an "increase in prudishness" can you provide? If you need evidence that Blizzard hasn't stopped putting in revealing armor for women, check out rogue season 11 gear.
pattycakes asked:
Do you think that Blizzard will ever add profession-crafted items that enhance mounts?
I'm thinking an Engineering recipe to create a horn/bell for the motorcycle/trike mount, or a Leatherworking/Tailoring recipe to create a saddle? Or perhaps a BS recipe to create armor for your mount?
Well, if we're talking actual effects, leatherworking used to have the Riding Crop, but it was removed. If you mean adding little doodads to your mounts, it's possible; Blizzard did say it wants to start offering more customization to stuff like druid armor and mounts and the like.
Eladonra asked:
Speaking of perma-bans....how many have there actually been? I remember the Martin Fury incident where the user - and I think the raid leader - were both perma-banned with the rest of the group receiving temp bans. I believe Paragon and Ensidia have received temp bans for exploits. I also know "of" someone who received a perma-ban for purchasing gold. He was a friend of my then-boyfriend. The way I was told, his account was banned at the IP level - thus making it more challenging to just start up a new account.
Account closures happen all the time in response to severe infractions of the Terms of Service. You don't tend to hear about them very much because the people who get them have been doing, well, things that are against the Terms of Service.
Lazymangaka asked:
How far in the past does the Goblin starting area take place?
It doesn't seem like it would be that long, but it would've taken time for Gallywix to build his pleasure palace in Azshara and for the Goblins to set up shop in Orgrimmar. If it's too far in the past, however, doesn't that suggest that Deathwing has been torching Azeroth for years now? And if the Goblins were able to build Gallywix his pleasure palace in just a few weeks, why haven't they been set to work on Orgrimmar yet?
Your adventures on Kezan and the Lost Isles take place during and directly after the Cataclysm. There's a necessary compression of time for goblins to already be around when you get to Orgrimmar. As for Gallywix's pleasure palace, well, you can just explain that away with "goblin priorities" -- ostentatiousness over usefulness any day of the week.

Dammit. Yesterday it was hoverboards. Now today flying chariots. I want this! Now. :p
zackwbrandon Feb 3rd 2012 12:41PM
It would be nice. Flaming Flying Chariots. Gives the achievement "Chariots of Fire." Costs your IRL first born child. Okay, maybe not that last part.
Dazzin Feb 3rd 2012 12:45PM
They have rickshaw type carts sitting in several places - Darnassas, Razor Hill, etc - it would be nice if they were, indeed, usable. Maybe with Pandaria - who knows?

I want a Turbo Pogo-stick or nothing at all.

Q4Q Readers-
Do you play on a laptop or desktop?
if both, which do you prefer and why?
Personally, I like my laptop but can only play on low/med settings but its worth it to me to take it where ever I want. Typically end up laying on the floor playing while watching Netflix with the fiance on the couch next to me.
last question I swear - laptop users, do you end up stretched out on the carpet like me when playing or am I a special flake of snow?
have a good weekend everyone :-)

Desktop - more power for less cost, and it's a lot easier to upgrade and replace bits and pieces as needed. Plus, I've had bad experiences with laptops power supplies going wonky - the part where the plug goes into the laptop becomes loose or something, making it difficult to maintain external power. Not something I want to worry about while raiding.

I play on a desktop, my gf plays on a laptop.
I actually prefer the desktop, as it has a huge screen attached to it, and I sometimes like to move the keyboard around when I play for quite some time. Unless Id use a USB-keyboard on the laptop, that wouldnt be possible.
Its mainly the size of the screen, and the fact that my laptop is a bit older, and gives me performance issues in raids, so I stick to the desktop.
And no, my gf doesnt play on the floor, Ill ask her why later on =)

Both but if I had my choice I would always be on my Desktop. I have never found a laptop that could run WoW as well as my desktop. It's just too powerful to compete with.
When I do use the laptop I am usually sprawled out on the couch or bed farming up mats for future AH endeavors.

I started playing WoW back in 2005 on an Alienware laptop that only barely ran on lowest settings. I also had to get a high-speed desk fan to keep it from burning my hands and itself. That was the last time I purchased a gaming laptop.
The only time I ever used the gaming laptop for mobility was when I was deployed. At home, it stayed on my desk 24/7. Now that I no longer travel, there just isn't any point in it for me, especially considering all the problems that came with it.
My wife still prefers gaming on a laptop, since she likes to move around the house with it, but she can never play WoW for more than an hour before it starts burning her wrists...even with a fan numbing her fingers.

Desktop, because I need my mouse to click Rend :)
TimR Feb 3rd 2012 12:12PM
Just recently started playing on a laptop. I prefer raiding on a desktop, but otherwise I like to sit on the couch.

Laptop. I only have one computer at the moment, and it is a Macbook Pro 15". So it has to serve all my needs, gaming, university research, etc.
My husband also runs WoW on a laptop. He's is a PC though. Blech.
Despite gaming on laptops, we do use mice. I've never been able to get the hang of touchpads. So I have a lovely gaming mouse hooked up to my laptop. I love mapping all the buttons to all the different heals I need when healing with VuhDo.

Sprawled on the couch with a laptop. I work at a desk all day; leisure time is for leisure. My newish MBP is capable of running the game on a slightly tweaked version of "high" video settings. With hot keys and macros, I can competently raid, but competitive PVP is a no go without a mouse.
ravyncat Feb 3rd 2012 12:21PM
I play on a laptop because it is the only computer I have.
I would love a bigger monitor and a less squished keyboard though. I play sitting at my desk because it seems weird to me to not have a computer at a desk. My Mac runs very very hot. It needs to sit on its cooler thing or I start having gameplay issues.
So...it might as well be a very tiny desktop because it never moves.
mibu.work1 Feb 3rd 2012 12:23PM
Desktop by far. My laptop is a little 2009 Dell used primarily for work. My Desktop is a 2004 Alienware (the last one they made before being bought by Dell) that I've nicknamed 'The Black Leviathan', due to it being well over 3*.6*3 (ft) and weighing about seventy pounds. It may only be a single-core processor, but it can run WoW on high settings with excellent frame-rates, and I can't wait to start using the 64-bit client to take advantage of its eight gigs of ram and duel-Nvidia video cards (I have them splitting the workload so I can easily run two monitors and still have good frame-rates). The point that really makes it shine are the five cooling fans and the chassis space to use two DVD drives and four hard-drives (Again, the thing is ENORMOUS). I really should look into getting a new motherboard and a duel-core processor sometime, but as it is now, I'm more than satisfied with the old dog.
Anyway, the point here is that I don't know that much about computers, but I prefer the desktop because there's just more you can do with it, and it's easy to upgrade. you can honestly get a fantastic WoW experience just from buying a fairly old desktop and upgrading.
Travy Feb 3rd 2012 12:46PM
I used to play on a desktop.which is my personal preference on account of the ability to upgrade easily, but after enlisting in the military I've found it easier to use a laptop.
Muse Feb 3rd 2012 12:57PM
Currently have a desktop gaming rig, but spent most of Wrath on a laptop. I did use external everything though, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc etc, so only real difference was the laptop being quieter.
slim1256 Feb 3rd 2012 1:23PM
Are duel-core processors required for PVP?
/bad joke at a typo's expense
I play on a laptop and a desktop. Laptop is for questing, farming, crafting, 5-mans, etc, whilst sitting on the couch. I have a nice cantilevered laptop table, so the base slides under the couch and I'm good to go with the laptop right in front of me.
For raiding, LFRs, and when I'm just feeling like it's time to rock out on high settings, I play on my desktop. It's in my man cave, though, so when I do that it isolates me from the wife and pups. Usually that means at night, once they've gone to bed.
Eladonra Feb 3rd 2012 1:53PM
Laptop. I used to have a desktop. I also have two cats. One chose to position himself between me and the monitor and the other felt it necessary to smother the mouse under his 18 lb body. Both actions hindered my ability to heal in raids. Using the laptop in bed lets them camp out on my legs which keeps them happy and out of the way. I have an Asus that gets between 30-60 fps on high settings, so it works out for all of us.
Drakkenfyre Feb 4th 2012 7:52PM
mibu, please tell me that system isn't running on hardware from 2004, and you have upgraded it at some point? Even dual video cards from 2004 would get stomped by the budget cards of today. An off-the-shelf $500 OEM system, with a mid-range video card added would easily outperform the original 2004 hardware in a heartbeat.
