I hear there's this dubstep music all the kids are into nowadays. Being an old man of questionable taste, I phoned some of the local teenagers for a primer. Their advice was to "listen for the drop." I kept listening for the drop, but I couldn't really hear it.
Nonetheless, WoPairs created WoW Meets Dubstep as a way of bringing this newfangled music into good old Azeroth. I don't really know if it was successful, since I kept waiting for the bass line to stop gently weeping.
If you have trouble making sense of this video, don't worry. It's meant to be random, I'm told. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
I r disappoint... The actual dubstep was meh at best, but when I see WoW Meets Dubstep, I expect to hear the main theme to something like Call to Arms or Karazhan, and then the dubstep drop into the remixed theme.
Beat was good, far too short though. Freakin' BElfs are not only overused, but in this video creepy as all hell, especially with the focus on pixellated bosom.
"I think I'll have to research about this dubstep thing to understand it."
My first thought, as well... So I go to trusty Google and type "wtf is" and, what do you know?! "wtf is dubstep" is the first suggestion Google gives me!

If you can't tell where the drop is, then they didn't do it right. A good drop should be like getting hit in the face with the bass line.
It's harder to define what "dubstep" is lately because it's kind of split into two schools. The older form of dubstep is mostly signified by what I like to call "wobble-bass" where the bass line . . . well, wobbles. Wobwobwobwob-wob-wob-wob-wobwobwob. The newer form of dubstep drops the wobble-bass for really heavily distorted bass lines and crazy noises, screeches and just kind of a musical chaos. At times the newer style can sound less like music and more like a monster trying to eat your face off . . . and that's awesome.
Here's a pretty awesome Dubba Johnny song called, appropriately, "A Brief Introduction on Dubstep".
As for this particular selection in the video . . . meh. It's not terrible for the genre (since I know a lot of people -HATE- dubstep) but it's certainly not a particularly shining example, either. And from what I saw of the video (listening at work so I caught bits and pieces) it really just felt like they were trying waaaaay too hard to be edgy and trippy. The focus on Belf boobies was creepy and there really wasn't any substance to it. It was just crazy lights and trippy effects.
If we're talking about mixing games and dubstep (or the like), then only this video can stand! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EotgLHqOkfs Ok, it's not WoW, but still, really epic!
