I'm having a concept of a legitimate mage tank (this is coming from being a prot warrior for several years). Mana Shield would be akin to a warrior's Shield Block, and mana would be regenerated by attacks on the Mana Shield, which would have a short cooldown. Arcane Barrage or Arcane Blast would be the main attack/threat generator, Frost Nova similar to Thunderclap, Arcane Barrage or Ice Lance or some non-damaging spell as a taunt, using Polymorph would be amazing, Counterspell like Heroic Throw to bring casters to you, Arcane Explosion for aoe tanking, Blink as a gap-closer (like Charge/Intervene/Heroic Leap). No need for plate, or leather and high avoidance, if your shield is made of mana. Throw in some high parry if you have a (caster) staff equipped.Instead of hiking the dress and running from danger, the only time we hitch our skirts up would be to moon or fruitbowl the boss. Voila, Battle Mage. What do you guys think?

Fine by me, as long as I get to tank with Metamorphosis.

I think I'd play that spec. Ice Block instead of pally bubble to clear debuffs, maybe make it usable on others like HoP. That would be fun to use on some wayward DPS.

No. I just want my frost mage and others to be more readily accepted into heroics and dare I say, raids. I know there are plenty of exceptions and exceptional mages who pull it off. That's fine too. Since they are taking some of our toys away in MoP, the least they can do is lets us DPS in any spec we choose. We are getting another tank class with the Monk. I don't want to see warlock or hunter tanks either. As fun as it is to do lower level content on those specs.

I doubt I'm the only person that's been wanting just this very thing for a looooooooong time. Too long really, as I've fallen out of love with raiding with my mages. However I do love frost. I also love tanking. I would love these two things to come together like chocolate and peanut butter. Watch out Reeses, there's a new kid on the block, and it's hangin' tough. Sing it with me...
