Yeah, I am interested in finding out how high pet levels go, if it hasn't been mentioned. If it has, I'm sure that some of the people in the comments will let me know.

Cory Stockton said 25 at the panel during Blizzcon. Of course, that's subject to change.

Lol! Oh no... I never even thought of the new strain of never-ending buffs and nerfs that are going to come with this pet system...
Lunthus Feb 6th 2012 9:43AM
I would have used a Snag Ball >_>

I loled at "Nuts uses guillotine! But it got nerfed..." Imagine if Blizzard starts having to balance out pet abilities on top of PvP
pace9 Feb 6th 2012 9:53AM
Charmander and ghostcrawler sit down for some heart to heart about balance.
Ghostcrawler: So Charmader, any thoughts about pvp?
Charmander: Well, I've been spending a huge amount of time in the arena lately, and, quite frankly, I'm pretty upset with the obvious imbalance we see today. Squirtle really needs a nerf. Have you devs seen that water gun nonsense?!
Ghostcrawler: Interesting. Anything you want to add?
Charmader: Well, apart from squirtle, you guys have done fairly well. Bulbasuar seems fairly balanced; people who roll Bulbasuar just need to learn the rotation."

can't uprate this enough

Woot! go raegin!

I wonder if Blizz will put out an app for pet battles on the go. I'm quite sure they realize the potential influx of cashies from the Wowemon Addict on the go.

Palpable: Good enough for a spider to eat.

Hahaha! This video made my morning! :D

I know the video is meant to be a joke, but I kinda miss those old turn-based RPGs that stoked my love of games in the early 90s.

Tried Cthulu Saves the World?
It's a homage to them, but with a lot of the irritating stuff removed. (Like instant teleport to towns, no more than 20 random fights per zone etc.)
zackwbrandon Feb 6th 2012 5:03PM
I will have to check that out.

I honestly would've rather seen mount breeding with a long cooldown and some gather quests. This could offer some unique looks to existing mounts, but I imagine it be too difficult for blizzard to design a bunch of new mounts and the combos too many. I was just thinking it be neat to get a tawny sabre mount with armor, or a mistsaber without armor. Just me. Though I had no idea there's an armor gene (maybe just the ability to wear armor is genetic?)
Though I'm curious what a fully levelled pet would sell for. I might level some pets that are easy to replace just to sell once and a while depending on how interest, fun, and time consuming this pet thing is.

"Didn't you know that Pet Battles automatically start at eye contact? Learn to LoS!"
I'm glad Blizzard said this wouldn't happen, but it's still funny.

I hope Blizzard makes this whole Pokemon thing follow the Path of the Titans.
Kar On E Feb 6th 2012 11:37AM
I kind of hope for the reverse myself...meaning that they keep this in and bring back Path of the Titans. Having a way to truly customize your character at max level would be great!
MasterInsan0 Feb 6th 2012 2:23PM
You know, after playing a bit of Everquest a few months ago, I got to thinking: what if WoW had an alternate advancement system? Some kind of system where you get to customize your character beyond just the talents you choose, and you get to advance over time even after you've hit max level. Then I remembered that WoW is the most min/maxed MMO out there and that any sort of advancement system Blizzard introduced would immediately be boiled down and condensed to just another set of "here's a bunch of options but only one path is optimal." It would end up being just another grind for players to go through.
This, I think, is why Blizzard is going the exact opposite direction with Pandaland. Instead of adding complexity, they're removing it to attempt to give the player some kind of real choice. It's kind of a futile endeavor, since everything will always be min/maxed and optimized and number-crunched so that meter-whores can be at the top, but assuming they execute their vision correctly one may actually be rewarded for taking a "non-optimal" path with additional utility.
Honestly, though, I think Blizzard should replace the current glyph system with Path of the Titans. Glyphs are incredibly important as it is and sometimes make huge differences to how a character plays. They too have been min/maxed, but at least you usually get a couple of slots to do with as you will. Turning glyphs into a form of advancement solves two problems: 1) players that can't afford/don't buy/don't know about glyphs until max level could instead be instructed through in-game tutorials on how to advance; 2) players are given meaningful choices as they advance without having to pay gold for them. We're already one step there now that you remember the glyph forever once you "learn it". Now all we need to do is separate the cost aspect and replace it with an advancement system.
Of course, this will never happen since Blizzard tied glyphs into an entire profession that a lot of people have. Still, it would create a form of alternate advancement besides leveling up and getting to pick between your three choices every 15 levels. A form of alternate advancement is going to become more and more necessary if Blizz keeps the Pandaria talent system for a while, because it seems like it will kind of suck only getting to customize your character once every 15 levels.

I used to be a great warrior monkey, then I took a banana to the knee......
