One of the really nice things about being able to fly in Azeroth is the opportunity to discover little homes in the most unlikely places. On a recent archaeology trip through Feralas, I flew over a tauren tent hidden in the mountains at 88,32 (on the border between Feralas and Mulgore) that I'd never seen before. It's a beautiful spot on a small pond ringed by mountains and Feralas' giant trees, with a travois and a canoe nearby, and I thought to myself: This would be actually be a really nice place to live, if my main had to be concerned with such things.
And then there's the little house in the mountains northeast of Stormwind -- the dwarven farms in the mountains between Ironforge and Menethil Harbor (although players saw that for years on flight paths). And another collection of tauren tents, canoes, and a rather large cave on the southern shore of Silithus. (Man, the tauren really got around.) Since getting flight in Azeroth, have you seen any of these tucked-away places, and are there any you think others should see?

There is an orphanage in the mountains just east of Twilight Ridge in Nagrand, Outland. Apparently it's run by the Cenarion Expedition ... I think.
Been a while since I flew over there.

i always got the impression that the matron was a cannibal.

The dwarf farm at the coast of the Hinterlands... And the Tauren huts beyond the mountains around Stonetalon Peak, although I'm not sure they're still there in Cataclysm, it's been a long time!

The dwarven farm on the coast in the Hinterlands is still there ... my main checks in from time to time

I haven't found any since flying, because I'm still lazy and take a flight path whenever possible so I can Bejeweled Blitz my way through long travel times.
However, I did find a dwarf farm off the coast of...I think it was in Arathi, technically...one time long ago when my nelf fell off the bridge and I thought I'd swim out toward the ocean to find a way out. There wasn't one until the Horde village off the Highland's Coast where I was insta-killed.
There was the dwarf farm there, though no way back up to the main questing areas from it. It was so random and empty, I was almost creeped out.

There's a small abandoned Camp to the North of Ironforge in the mountains which I liked as

My favorite of these tucked away places was Newman's Landing. Sadly, it was removed in Cataclysm.

The Wanderer Feb 10th 2012 9:39AM
Well, it wasn't exactly removed.
The actual place still exists - building, dock, goblins and all.
If I remember correctly, though, it's not labeled with a special "location" tag anymore - and according to my understanding, it's no longer used as the "initial spawn point for new characters" which originally gave it its name.
David Feb 10th 2012 10:05AM
Well, look at that... I stand corrected. I went looking for it after Cataclysm and I guess I was misremembering where it was. Newman's Landing lives!

There's a little tent on the side of one of the cliffs in Uldum. A silver dragon mob spawns there, that's how I found it. I like to sit there sometimes, looking out over the desert.

There's a Dwarven farm off the coast of the Wetlands, south-east corner, across from the Twilight Highlands.
On my RP server, a friend uses that as his home. It's very nice, with a dock, a still and a ram stable.

The Silithus cave is still there? YES!
I remember finding that back at the start of Wrath when I was working on getting Explorer.
Shaman + Ghost Wolf + Water Walking = WIN
I had Explorer before I had Cold Weather Flying. :)

Many! For example; the Steam Pools and the nice holiday resort there, and the strange npc's on Lake Dumont, both in Feralas.

My favorite out of the way spot is the Fairy Dragon mushroom circle in Tirisfal Glades. I know that isn't technically a home, but my druid would be happy to vacation there.
I love Gilneas. That beautiful empty city so needs to be used in some way beyond the Worgen starter zone and baby Forsaken quests.
I am also very fond of Surwich in the Blasted Lands.
Closer to "home", I like the farm out back of Stormwind. That whole area with the lake is one of my favorite places.

And I meant my above comment to be stand alone...so of course it appeared as a random reply. XD

Before I say what I intended to post I wanted to say that I am a new player (about a month in) and a lvl40 at the moment. I did do a trial back in 2005 but never really got hooked as I am now to the game. Anyways here it is.

I think it would be pretty awesome to have the ability to purchase actually homes in the game. Now just hear me out. They dont have to be personalized but much like an Inn to the fact that many characters can "purchase" a house (much like the one in the OP) and have a harthstone type of object where you can store items (yes i know there are Banks and Vaults). It may sound silly to some Im sure but just the fact that you could always come "Home" to a nice location to just relax and chill with friends. I also know this seems a lot nay it sounds almost exactly like the Inns in the game but we all know the Inns are not always in the most prime locations and in most cases are crowded and not very attractive.
Ok Im sure I just showing my "newbieness" but just a thought. I didnt take much time to think about this so it was just a idea in the wind. Of course now that Im thinking about what I just said, this is a stupid idea...forget it. Just use the Inns lol.
Joakim Feb 10th 2012 10:13AM
I agree. I usually try to log out wiht my toon /sleep in a bed (in an inn). And since I like the small things, I undress before going to bed (don't you?) :)
But!
Just once! To not have to wake up in a room full of Deathknights!
:)
Duerma Feb 10th 2012 1:12PM
Nothing "newbie" about this idea at all - it's something many players have been begging for over the last 7 years. I'd love to put my old stuff on display, and I'd love to RP without having to fly to the middle of nowhere to ensure that I won't be griefed, or even just interrupted. There is exactly one empty house in Stormwind, and it's totally awkward having people either spawn in it or run in and say "hey this is my house, gtfo" while we are RPing.
drogodanderfluff Feb 10th 2012 9:53AM
ChaseHammerJ I completely agree. I think we should have this now. We can display our Mog sets, our old weapons (again used for Mog). If Blizzard added them I would so buy one. FYI I have played the game since 2008, and I am not a kid IRL I am 40 :) (and Married with kids, and have a real job in Aeospace) so I am not a noob :)
Cheers

Did you steal my identity? No, wait. I'm not married.....but otherwise.....you sound just like me!
