The Queue: Garbage Day!
Hope you guys are as pumped for Skullgirls as I am. Any game that has someone yell "GARBAGE DAY!" when they shoot a pistol is a day-one purchase for me.
Soulestream asked:
Do you think they are allowing account wide achievements because they have decided to do the item level / stats squish?
No, I think the devs' stated reasoning was honest: They know that, after seven years, you're probably going to have a bunch of achievements on a guy you don't feel like playing as much anymore, but you keep playing because that's the guy with all the achievements. Making achievements account-wide means that you don't need to play the guy you hate just to maintain momentum (and a title you like that you can't get anymore).
Thal asked:
I recently started leveling my first alliance character (a human paladin) after 5 years of pure Horde dedication, and I must say I'm really intrigued by Stormwind City. My question: what's up with the Stormwind graveyard? Which important people are buried there, besides the queen of SW?
Stormwind Cemetery is actually a new addition to the city in that it wasn't there prior to the city's reconstruction for Cataclysm. We're not really sure who's buried there, with the notable exception of Tiffin Wrynn. It's possible that Stormwind royalty gets buried there, but there are also catacombs below the Cathedral of Light, so it's hard to say. Also, the cemetery is right next to the lake, which seems like a fundamentally bad place to bury your dead.
Orpflog asked:
I have a loot question, I have come back to Wow and have been doing quite a few heroics and have seen people loot Blue gems off of the last boss, but I don't see them roll on them and I would think as a Jewlecrafter that I would have a chance to loot them too! What is the criteria to loot an dropped gem? When do they drop? Off which bosses?
You're not missing out on any loot, don't worry. It's very likely that what you're seeing is actually the result of people opening their Satchel of Exotic Mysteries they got from queueing as one of the in-demand roles (tank or healer, usually). Those often contain gems.
healingghost asked:
just a quick question..... in the Valley of Trials on my orc, I cam across a little creature called lo'shall. Am i missing something, or is there anything special about this critter? It is like a really really tiny boar. I thought it was cool anyway, just curious if it meant anything.
Lo'Shall was the target of a deprecated hunter quest that taught players how to use their Track Beasts ability. The lil' piggy remained even after the quest was removed, if it was ever actually in use at all.

In regards to the cemetery in SW, a lot of those might be for those who died in Northrend. I remember in The Shattering by C. Golden, they make mention of all the people who gave their lives in service for their country.

Yep. Read that too. [SPOILERS! lol]
Also, Sacco's comment: "Also, the cemetery is right next to the lake, which seems like a fundamentally bad place to bury your dead."
Free fish bait? No?
:P
Amaxe Feb 10th 2012 11:28AM
Well, actually a lot of the placement of things in WoW seems kind of WTF?
Lugh Feb 10th 2012 11:46AM
With all the Old Gods trouble over the last few years, I wouldn't bury ANYTHING in Azeroth.
quelaenvyn Feb 10th 2012 12:06PM
Two thing to remenber
1) Magic, In Azeroth, say something is done for something don't know is more then ok. Its probably want going on.
2) Although our law of physics our in force in WOW, they don't seem to be enforce the same(i.e. It take a lot higher fall to kill you then it should ).
So when you add both together and you tell get anything is possibly in Azeroth.
Pryn Feb 10th 2012 12:29PM
Never mind old gods, if Sylvanas and her new best buddies the val'kyr breached the city boundaries to get in there, it could get REAL messy REAL fast.
Draelan Feb 10th 2012 12:39PM
@quelaenvyn
What is this, I don't even...
*Draelan hurts herself in her confusion*

I'm sorry, but WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!?
Shinae Feb 10th 2012 2:12PM
@Twill: Translator fail.
If you don't read it verbatim, you can see the meaning in there. Just let your eyes lose their focus a little.

"Also, the cemetery is right next to the lake, which seems like a fundamentally bad place to bury your dead."
Well, at least it's not Crystal Lake. Just flying over that place gives me the creeps every time. I'll take Brightwater Lake any day of the week.

That leaves another question. Why the hell do they bury anything? Surely they could just cremate all their corpses and never worry about the Forsaken or the Scourge coming to town and raising up an army of thousands in no time flat. I mean, come on, we've been dealing with undead for years now, have we learned nothing?

I took a brief break from right after cataclysm, and then decided to reroll on a different server. I leveled a Pally and DK tandemly, and have both recently dinged 85. I rolled the pally to tank & heal, and the DK to PvP. My question is, is it improper edequite or "cheating" to use my crafted PvP gear to get into the heroic queue on my DK? I am thinking it would be easier to learn the heroic modes on a DPS toon where failing doesnt necessarily mean a wipe.
xvkarbear Feb 10th 2012 11:22AM
Lots of people will get all sorts of upset by this. So, yes.. it probably is improper etiquette.
My answer? Go for it. Only make sure you know how to play your class. You can do comparable DPS in PVP gear if you know what you're doing.
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Feb 10th 2012 11:24AM
If you can pull the required dps, don't worry about it.
I was in an LFR yesterday with a Rogue whom I shall refrain from naming that was decked out in full PVP gear, and did less than 15k on Madness. If you're going to be bad like that, maybe not do it, since you'll get called on it and they'll try to vote kick you. If you pull good numbers, tell them to shut up.
lazymangaka Feb 10th 2012 11:25AM
Is it cheating? Sure. But you'll be replacing that gear so fast that it really doesn't matter anyway.
DarkSpade Feb 10th 2012 11:32AM
If you're keeping some pvp gear in you bags to give you that one or 2 more points you need to get into a heroic, it's unlikely anyone will care of even notice as long as you're playing well. If you show up in greens and heirloom gear you expect to be called out on it before the tank pulls the first mob.
Shuckles Feb 10th 2012 11:31AM
I'm personally torn on this subject. For the most part, it's been a strong belief that using PvP gear to run heroics was a bad thing to do. The loss of a secondary stat in favor of Resilience is something that hampers a player's DPS (albeit only slightly, for the most part) and showed a lack of commitment as far as getting the appropriate gear was concerned.
However, I think more allowances should and could be made for it this late in the expansion, for the very purpose you stated. The old regulars and heroics can be annoyingly difficult even now and the gear seems like it would be more of an advantageous boon than a hindrance considering its improved item level and power.
Honestly, I think as long as it remains in heroics and PvP, it should be fine to wear while gearing up. Though it should only stay on until you have access to LFR, if that's your goal.
ildera Feb 10th 2012 11:43AM
I wish someone would come up with a formula to show at what ilevel difference pvp gear is equal or better than pve gear for heroics. There are a lot of people out there that think that quest greens are better than 403 pvp gear.
For example, maybe 403 pvp gear is as good as 365 pve gear for doing heroics? It shouldn't be that hard to figure out, just the item budget minus the resilience and what's left is the equivalent pve items budget?
The Dewd Feb 10th 2012 11:52AM
@ildera - I thought I read/heard somewhere that PvP gear is considered approximately half a tier lower than PvE gear when used for PvE. If someone is wearing 403 PvP gear for LFR, they're probably fine as long as they know PvE rotations/priority. If they're storing it in their bags to cheese the iLevel requirement, that's entirely different.
loop_not_defined Feb 10th 2012 11:59AM
Crafted PVP gear is almost required to get into Heroics these days. Many players entering the 4.0 and 4.2 dungeons are barely, if even, meeting the minimum ilvl requirements...and those dungeons are BRUTAL when every single group member is in that boat.
You want to skip them. Collect crafted PVP gear, skip straight into 4.3 dungeons, and then laugh until you die from asphyxiation as epics drop at your feet. Don't even think about attempting the earlier dungeons until you're decked out in 378+ PVE gear.
