Heart of the Aspects mount now available for $25

While patch 4.3 was on the PTR, dataminers discovered a pretty slick-looking mount in the game files: the Heart of the Aspects. We all speculated as to how players might receive it, and today we found our answer. You can buy it from the Blizzard Store for $25, adding it to your stable of real-money mounts alongside the Celestial Steed and Winged Guardian.

Update: Blizzard has released their official announcement.

I saw one comment elsewhere that suggested that this Heart of the Aspects model doesn't have a landing animation (AKA just hovers). Looking at the animation of it, it does look similar to the Dragonhawk animation (which also doesn't land). Can anyone who has purchased this mount yet confirm: does the HotA mount land, or does it just hover?

Something OCD in me just thinks flying mounts that don't land are just an affront to all that is holy. ;)

It does not land on legs, no. It hovers when on the ground, much like the dragonhawk.

Flying carpet doesn't "land" either. It hovers. It will be much cooler in zones where you can't fly but you can still use the mount. You will look like your are gliding over the terrain :)

I'm glad that my rocket mount can't land. Goblin engineering can be trusted to explode when it hits the ground.

The obvious question no one has asked: Are you allowed to sell this in game for gold, as with the winged lion pet?

I would love that on the servers where I have a decent amount of gold. Though I would wait for the price to drop a bit.

I'm doubting it, as all of your characters get it. The little cub was only available to one toon. If all your characters got it and could sell it, you'd have a plethora of them on the AH.

Someone with one in the game indicated it was across your account and BOP. So it looks like you cannot sell them. Bummer for me.

I find the timing of this mount to be very interesting. They put it on the store after the investor conference call, so that means the revenues from this sale will bolster their Q2 earnings. This makes me wonder if they are somehow needing the money. Have subscriptions dropped since 12/31/2011?

Blizzard is in the business of making money, gamers shocked to discover it.

(They announced another 100K subscriber loss in the conference call last week. Feel free to use that in your theories.)

Yeah dude. The few million they will make on this mount will really put them over the edge when they make 100 million+ each month from subs. When they start selling mounts and pets on a monthly basis, and raise the cost to sub, then you will have a viable complaint.
