C'mon guys dont buy this, you cant keep encouraging the company to keep charging you for mounts and pets.
Way i see it is that they take the money from your subscription to pay their artists to design in game items to be sold right back to you for more than what your subscription costs.
The developers just jump at opportunities to say "we dont have the resources" to do whatever but they have enough to create these?
jfofla Feb 14th 2012 7:11PM
Of course I will buy it!
Of course I want more mounts for sale!
$25 is nothing. I would just spend the $25 on a bottle of wine that I would later piss out.
Mount is a bargain!

Trouble is, $25 is $50 more than it's worth.
lazymangaka Feb 14th 2012 9:11PM
You're being overly negative. Period. Things like this help offset subscriber losses, which means that we get to keep enjoying WoW.
If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Blizzard is in the business of MAKING MONEY. C'mon now. I'm guessing that you're too young to have a career, or too naive to understand that business is business.
If you were running your own business, wouldn't you want to increase your revenue stream at every opportunity?
Now, you'll probably argue that they are making enough money off of subs. Here's a pro-tip: You're never making enough money. That's capitalism for you. If you think it's bad, then come out and say that you don't like capitalism. Don't hide it behind this thin bullshit veil of "C'mon guys dont buy this, you cant keep encouraging the company to keep charging you for mounts and pets. "
From Wikipedia (emphasis mine):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism
"There is general agreement that elements of capitalism include private ownership of the means of production, ***creation of goods or services for profit or income***, the accumulation of capital, competitive markets, voluntary exchange and wage labor."

The first bit of your post, I disagree. However, you last part, I couldn't agree more. it seems like Blizzard is spending more of their time creating pretty mounts than on actually fixing real issues in the game and/or the fact that they keep pushing back the release date for certain games *cough* Diablo III *cough*
Get to work on MoP already and release DIII ! When the annual pass was announced, it gave the impression that Diablo was coming out in the next month or so.... It's been well-over that and I purchased my annual pass in October. it's now in the middle of February.

what does it look like in licorice
jazz.panther Feb 14th 2012 7:06PM
That's a cool looking mount, but yikes... that's almost the equivalent of 2 months of gameplay where I have the chance to farm up any number of rare mounts on my own! Personally, I find that much more rewarding than handing Blizzard $25 and saying "Here, just give me a cool mount". But to each his own I suppose!
adamjgp Feb 15th 2012 9:14AM
Good argument. 2 months game time is a great way to view the purchase of this mount. However, there's also another way to determine its true value:
Calculate how long in play time it would take to get a comparable mount. Multiply that amount of time by the value that you place on your time. Compare that resulting number to the price of the mount and see which one is a better deal.
E.G.
(numbers are made up, and not representative of actual time invested)
It would take 8hours of playing in order to gain a comparable mount. I value my time at $40/hr. I'll give a discount b/c i reall enjoy the time I spend playing the game, so I'll say that I value the time that I play wow at about $10/hour. That means that a comparable mount will cost me the equivalent of $80. Also, in those 8hours that I'm farming for a comparable mount, I cannot be doing much of anything else, so there's an opportunity cost. Adding in the fact that this mount is accessible to your entire account means that it's an absolute steal IMO.

Kids, freedom of speech means that others are allowed to have opinions you don't like. Ie, stop modding down people you disagree with.
jfofla Feb 14th 2012 7:28PM
If you don't want to be down voted, don't post
Vai Feb 14th 2012 7:36PM
It's just a polling system. If your post strongly agrees with the majority it goes blue, if it disagrees strongly with the majority or you otherwise offend them with it your post goes grey, if it toes the middle ground it stays white.
If the system was only there for the community to police spam and troll posts then there wouldn't be a blue "upvoted" state.
adamjgp Feb 15th 2012 9:17AM
That's not what freedom of speech means. Freedom of speech means that the Government cannot punish you for what you say (this is arguable in this day and age). It does not mean that anyone can say anything and not have to deal with the repercussions of it.
You are free to say what you want, but I am free to mod you down. Don't tread on my right to express my speech with downmods.

Call me when they decide to allow it to be dropped ingame. Other than that, I'm not interested in it. /shrug
marksantos21 Feb 14th 2012 8:03PM
I honestly think it looks better than all the previous mounts.

I for one, love the mount, though for those who have it, check it out swimming...!!!
Secondly, it woulda looked better without the wings.
And sadly, for those looking at it as a completely new mount, its a Reskin of a HORRIBLE mount in my mind...The DragonHawk....
But, all in all...I like the mount, and for those Hard core players saying it should be an Ach, or drop from Heroic something...some people just dont have the time, or ability to see end content till AFTER the content is very old...and some achs are worthy of a great mount, and some people view it as a waste of time.
I personally would like to have seen a Version of this as an Ach reward..but the better colour....SILVER!!!!! Hear that Blizz??? SILVER ME UP THIS MOUNT!!!
chuparex Feb 14th 2012 9:14PM
This is not a "reskin." It's a completely new model with a new rig and new animations.
chuparex Feb 14th 2012 9:13PM
Pretty disappointing. It doesn't even have landed/walking animations. It seems to me that this is pretty clearly an animation rig (and possibly model) that was being developed for the Mists of Pandaria dragons, and ended up being rushed to completion as a store mount.
From a story and art perspective, I see this as sloppy and ill-considered, especially in an expansion that focuses so heavily on dragon lore. For some reason, the Dragon Soul spawns a slew of serpentine, Asiatic-inspired dragons that bear little resemblance to every other dragon in the game? At least with the proto-drakes, we had an explanation for why they were so physically different, and why they weren't intelligent. It's a super nerdy complaint, I know, but this is an extremely popular fantasy universe. Your dragons need to make sense.
Dementron Feb 14th 2012 9:19PM
While I am very pleased with the shiny, I have to agree with you on the lore issue. None of the store mounts make any sense in lore terms, and it bugs me.
