I work.
No, really. I work. I have two screens, one with WoW, one with the relevant stuff I need for my work as a freelance writer. So while going from Point A to B with regular air taxi, let's say from Hyjal to Uldum (about 10 min flight), I can get at least half a page or a whole page done. Takes a bit of proofreading afterwards but all writing demands that.
If I don't have an article or something, I read. Right now King's 11.22.63. And besides that I managed to write to complete repu grinding guides for the guild website and watch Treme. Twice.
Strange one, Treme. It kinda grows on you, even if it is a bit boring to start with - sort of like archaology :)

I also work while digging sometimes, but not as a writer...as a business analyst solving software ticket issues. One monitor for work, one for WOW. More often I watch Hulu, Netflix, etc. while digging. It gives that perfect bit of zen-like doing something while still allowing some focus to attend to the show that's on.
All that said, I don't dig much anymore. After the major spurt of it to get Realm First Arch (375 and 450!), finishing the Professor title, then the long and arduous slog trying to get the caster staff (which, sadly, never has shown up) I am now just casually focused on Uldum digs to get the thing pet. Each Night Elf and Fossil dig site I get just delays things more. I think those just show up so that I will keep digging until they add more crap to dig up.
