Wouldn't this be cool? Another draenei ship

Let's face it: After The Burning Crusade, the draenei were shunted off into a corner and never heard from again. We saw a naaru in Wrath, and there were those draenei in Borean Tundra being refused by the Alliance military, but that was it. The draenei were even less present in Cataclysm, with their corrupted Broken brethren actually getting the lion's share of the shaman roles in the most recent expansion. Velen has been reduced to a punch line.
"I thought we had lost them."
Everything we know about the draenei, we know from those we've met. Velen is our only fountain of draenei knowledge and culture. What if there were a separate faction of draenei not content with running from the Burning Legion and instead hell-bent on taking the fight to them? These are the Triumvirate draenei, ruled by a three-party war council, who travel the stars taking the fight to outlier demon worlds. Velen thought they all had died, because each ship had jumped in a different direction. One landed on Draenor; the other was lost.
We know the draenei as a patient people. They live an awfully long time in comparison to the rest of the races in their Alliance, seeming odd and out of place with nothing endangering them on Azeroth. They are embroiled in other people's conflicts, and that makes them set pieces rather than characters to build upon.
Imagine the other side of draenei society, the ones who took their pious and unwavering belief in the Light and their naaru benefactors as gifts of power. I want to see the true militaristic might of the draenei, a society of warriors dedicated to the fight against the Legion in a way that shakes draenei society to its core.
Challenge of the Triumvirate
Velen is boring because he is an authority with no conflict. By default, Velen is correct in everything he does and everything he predicts because there are no counter-voices to his predictions. The character has no conflict; therefore, we take what he says as fact because we have no other alternative.
What if the Triumvirate were winning the war against the Burning Legion, or at least dealing considerable blows? What if these were draenei who'd never known of corrupted orcs or Azeroth or any of our foolishness for the past two wars? These are beings looking for a few good allies. When Velen's own people start to find fault in his predictions or a wavering commitment to his people's future and instead see the light in the militaristic arms of a strong-willed, proud people fighting their eternal enemy on even ground, Velen might finally have to defend himself. And we might finally get some of his power to seep out.
Conflict breeds captured imaginations. Give Velen some conflict. Show us the other side of the draenei.

If we find this second ship... can we finally turn exodar into a disco?
lazymangaka Feb 16th 2012 5:14PM
I say we do that RIGHT NOW.
chyllyphylly Feb 16th 2012 5:19PM
They can't be happy here, with just this talking chandelier
Noyou Feb 16th 2012 5:45PM
Wait- it's not a disco? Well, I will still dance there on Friday's from 10-midnight server time.
yagamimoon Feb 16th 2012 8:33PM
That ship's gotta have more funky in it than the exodar, im darn sure about it :D
Btw, I remember Metzen said THERE IS ANOTHER DRAENEI SHIP AROUND, in last Blizzcon. Im just saying because I clearly remember that, and the title made me think it was a topic about that comment in specific :P
Noah Feb 17th 2012 8:59AM
You just made a Battlestar Galactica reference.
I love you now.
mwhyte Feb 23rd 2012 4:42PM
Yes Metzen did make a comment about other uncorrupted DRAENEI out there but is was more in joking by saying that is what the PROTOSS were.
But a WoW / SC crossover would be cool in my book I still want Tauren Marines.

'Space Goat, Coast to Coast.'
Noyou Feb 16th 2012 5:48PM
Just don't let any Blood elves on the ship. No crashes this time!
chuparex Feb 16th 2012 6:07PM
Co-starring Zorak the Mantid.
Wooper Feb 16th 2012 10:11PM
What WAS the point of sanding my Exodar off?
lazymangaka Feb 16th 2012 5:09PM
Wouldn't it be cool if we had real WoW news to talk about?
Revynn Feb 16th 2012 5:19PM
Would it be cool if we had Mop info? Sure.
Is it a terrible thing to just have a casual chat about what may or may not happen in the future of the game? Nope.
Keep in mind that, even though they focus heavily on game news, WI is technically a blog. It's perfectly acceptable to have a post like this one that doesn't have a particular point beyond "Hey, wouldn't this be awesome?"
lazymangaka Feb 16th 2012 5:39PM
Is casually chatting about hypothetical things bad? Not in the least bit. But it would be freakin' fantastic to actually get some information about something. Anything. The Heart of the Aspects release is the closest thing to real news we've had in a good while.
I'm not badmouthing WoW Insider here, quite the opposite. They're doing the best they can with what they have to work with. The problem is, there's not a lot to work with at all, and it shows.
Zanathos Feb 16th 2012 5:41PM
Availability of gaming news will always lag behind player demand. Accept it.
lazymangaka Feb 16th 2012 5:47PM
Now, I certainly understand downvoting any comment that comes across as the least bit negative. It's just the way that business is handled around here. But is every single one of you telling me that you DON'T want some real news to talk about in addition to these fun articles?
Mr. Crow Feb 16th 2012 6:01PM
When Blizzard says "there's a press event in March" I think it's logical to assume that there won't really be a lot of information dropped before March. They want the press even to feel important and build folks' expectations.
I love getting new information. I was really happy to see that the MoP talent calculators were updated, and then horribly disappointed to see that Priests got nearly zero changes. (Not bad changes, not good changes. ZERO.) But I know and trust that when news occurs, or when an interesting perspective on the game (like "Wouldn't It Be Awesome if...?") can get posted, this site is going to have it ready.
I think we can all agree that news would be great, but complaining "why isn't there news?" to the people that totally can't do a thing about it seems a little petulant to me.
Zanathos Feb 16th 2012 6:04PM
I don't think anyone would mind seeing more news. But I think the downvotes might reflect the irrelevance of wishing for the unlikely to the article.
Guttsu Feb 16th 2012 6:14PM
When there is news to be had, WowInsider will write about it, however I find this topic 100x more interesting and exciting than the announcement of another pet store mount or something. Its stuff like this that brings me to WowInsider. I can get a breakdown of new WoW news anywhere that covers game news, but an engaging discussion about hypothetical lore progression? This is the place to be.
Noyou Feb 16th 2012 7:20PM
@Lazy
This isn't CNN. There isn't breaking WoW news every minute. I know you are fully aware of the daily blues. They put in news when they can- like yesterdays MoP talent calc update. Chillax.
