Not just the wow community, but the greater gaming community helped get surgery for a friend of a friend who had no insurance. The surgery cost around 30k; in the first 24 hours after asking for some help, over 40k was donated. Less than a week later, she had the procedure done, multiple large tumors removed, and saved her life.
