The Queue: Important Mat McCurley super-fan meetup bulletin

The Mat McCurley super-fan group meetup for tonight has been cancelled due to size restrictions on the venue. Too many people wanted to come. We'll get a bigger place for the next one, I promise.
yous95 asked:
The MoP talent calculator was recently updated. On the druid page, I notice that there are now 4 druid specs- the originals and "guardian" a separate spec for the bear tank. Did we know about this upcoming change before, and do you think it's smart of Blizzard to give druids 4 specs while all other classes have 3?
Yes, we knew about this at BlizzCon. Personally, I think it's one of the best changes for the druid and will go a long way in fixing a core broken issue with druids that's been present for seven years. Longevity is key, and Blizzard is making good long-term decisions. Plus, it sets the precedent of adding on specializations to classes. Imagine that ...
Mindor asked:
So, I just noticed portals to Org/Stormwind right next to the dark portal on HFP side. Has this been in the game the entire time?
As far as I remember it, originally these portals were just set dressing. At some point during Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard activated them for easier transport.
@ecbremner on Twitter asked:
With the blues saying some talents will be turned into glyphs. Will we be getting a new set of glyph slots in MoP?
I have a feeling the glyph system will get a tiny bit of a makeover, especially in terms of what minor glyphs are for and their function, prior to the expansion's release. In fact, I bet we learn a little something about glyphs in March when the press tour begins. Having some talents become glyphs is great because it's another added decision that actually matters in the way you build your class. You might now get to choose from one of three attractive passive bonuses, etc. I think it could work very well, but we just don't have the information yet.
@xvkarbear on Twitter asked:
What changes would you like to see happen to the guild leveling system? What kind of new perks do you want?
I think 10 more guild levels per expansion is a pretty good number to aim for. Two of those can be a pet and a mount, which leaves eight to fill. Add on to existing perks with a new rank or two, and you really only need a couple of new perks for guilds reaching the upper levels. Unlocking new heirlooms would be a good upper-echelon guild reward that I would also like to see.
@blakepirtle on Twitter asked:
did the aspects give up anything else aside from immortality? Will time "catch up" to them you think?
The Aspects gave up their immortality and aspect powers in order to defeat Deathwing. They can most likely live forever anyway, or practically forever, since they are still dragons at the end of the day. They do retain a considerable amount of power as dragons, just not their Savior of Azeroth, No One Messes With Us powers.

Be aware that GMs don't seem to be granting item recovery any longer.
Trust me, I used to get old items restored every so often since I collected roleplaying outfits before transmog. After transmog hit though, I tried 4 different tickets with separate GMs to get a weapon I really wanted for a transmog set, but all told me basically the same thing. They were being flooded with recovery requests and have stopped offering that service.
So just a heads up to everyone, do not rely on being able to get something back.
I really hope they do give us some way to get old quest rewards back though, as a Loremaster there's too many things I've now missed out on. :(

I thought I read somewhere that the devs were planning on allowing players to redo old quests and reap old rewards, that it would be somehow tied to the DMF. Rumors, of course, that I don't think I can substantiate. It was just something I ran across when trying to track down transmog loot.

Dear The Queue,
Has Blizzard simply given up on Archaeology?

Vorenos Feb 17th 2012 11:42AM
it sure feels like it... but i really hope they dont forget about it. these are so many cool things that could be done with it if they would only make a few small changes to the process, like CHOOSING WHO YOU WANT TO RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry, still looking for my Zin'rokh (spelling?) and i may be bitter about it.
Spelio Feb 17th 2012 12:20PM
I just want my Crawling Claw!! I have the mount but the pet continues to elude me. I am ssssooooooo tired of the Tol'Vir grind.
Joakim Feb 17th 2012 12:29PM
I want Vial of the Sands.
But the only thing I, a very well dressed mage, has found has been ...
Zin'rohk.
First fragments found in Tanaris, last one in Zuldrak. Guess whoever used it got critted really, really hard.

They openly admitted "pet battles" was to take place of any new professions. It would be interesting to see if any professions get much of a revamp. I am prepared for the status quo and hoping for the best. Just going by their hot new idea to make fishing more fun- we got a silly fish icon that was quickly changed to the current hook icon. It makes you think the profession department was out that week. GC was probably at the controls with some interns (kidding of course I love GC).

RE: What kind of new perks do you want?
A guildie and I were talking the other day on how they could improve the leveling expierence. We've already gotten gperks for XP and Rep, so that's sped things up.
What about Pocket (class) Trainer? I love the speed at which I can level alts now, but it can be annoying to constantly have to travel to a class trainer. Give me a mechanognome, or a Big Honkin' Book, or something.
Puntable Feb 17th 2012 11:54AM
Training spells will not be an issue after patch 5.0.
Edymnion Feb 17th 2012 12:13PM
How about a guild reward portable anvil so you don't have half the professions required to go back to town while half can happily craft in the field all day long.
Or more chef's hats for all the different professions. Cooking isn't the only profession that requires you to craft dozens of things at a time, you know. Jewelcrafting and Alchemy spring to mind as things where I get my mats up, hit craft all, then go get something to drink, swing by the bathroom, check in, go water my plants, come back and oh hey, I'm almost done!
Ferley Feb 17th 2012 12:35PM
I do like the idea of a "Jack of All Trades" type character you could summon who could train you in any profession.
Also more profession mount recipies would be awesome, whether or not they would come from guild rewards - particularly for those professions that haven't had a mount yet. I remember an older discussion of what profession mounts we'd all like to see and that was a lot of fun to speculate about! Hanggliders for leatherworkers, etc.
Noyou Feb 17th 2012 6:05PM
They have a trainer in GS and I believe in Dolanaar who can train all professions. Problem is after you get out of those areas. I would like to see a portable anvil for BS/Eng. It's not my idea but I am going to keep mentioning it.
Noyou Feb 17th 2012 6:10PM
@ Edy
I would not want it to be a guild perk. Something that cool should be a reward for the crafters. Also don't want/need it on a 1-2 hour CD.

Image this: Blizzard gets rid of DPS only classes by giving them either tank or healer specs to choose from.
Warlock - Demon Tank
Mage - Healer
Hunter - BM Tank and/or SV Heals
Rogue - Tank?
We would see a lot more Warlocks out their if they could choose to transform into a huge Demon and que as a tank. How many Hunters would love to be able to send their bear or turtle tank in and sit back with the other DPS and gun down the mobs.
Come on Blizz, this is a good idea and you have plenty of time to build these talent trees for MoP. If a leather wearing Monk can tank, why not a rogue?
eel5pe Feb 17th 2012 12:46PM
This suggestion gets tossed around a lot, and with the advent of Guardian spec there's certainly a precedent for classes getting a fourth talent tree. That said there are two primary problems:
1) It's comparably "easy" to balance a DPS class, and yet we still get millions of complaints and resultant mid-patch damage tweaks. It is significantly harder to balance tanks and healers, and adding even more classes to the mix would just muddy things up even more.
2) While there is existing gear for a cloth/mail healer and a leather tank, there's nothing for a cloth tank or mail tank. Gearing these specs would require either an awkward stat conversion or making an entire new set of gear (aka spellcaster plate all over again). And how would armor work?
coville Feb 17th 2012 1:04PM
Thank you for your response and I agree with your concerns, but I
think they can be over came by...
1)Instead of a 4th spec Blizz could convert current specs, ie: Hunter
BM = Tank, Mage Arcane = Heals, Warlock Demon = Tank. This would give
one less DPS spec per a class to concern with balance.
2)The only armor type that would need adjustment would be cloth and I
think that either a stat conversion when in Demon mode or making tank
cloth would be possible. I favor a stat conversion to solve this
problem.
Think of all the possibilities this would create. Think of all the
excitement it would generate. Now all those DPS only classes can stop
complaining about the tank and get in there, or heal if you think it
is so easy. In the end it would calm some of the common complaints
that pure DPS classes have about being boxed into only that role.
Killik Feb 17th 2012 4:54PM
Taking an existing spec and changing its role would do more than generate excitement - it would make a lot of players very angry indeed. I would be positively incandescent with rage if you took my Survival Hunter and arbitrarily turned him into a healer. That's not what I rolled him to do; I like to dps and I don't want to have to spec BM to do it. Sheesh, if I wanted a mail-wearing healer, I'd have gone for a Resto Shaman!
Santo Feb 17th 2012 12:11PM
Let's theorize the elimination of pure dps. Everyone's a hybrid! Now, I can see hunters and warlocks shoehorned into tanking, through pets. And mages could heal (why not, it's magic!). But I just can't wrap my mind around a rogue tank or healer. Dodge based tank? First aid based healer? Your thoughts?
Shinae Feb 17th 2012 12:17PM
On the latest WoW Insider Show, they talked about rogues as pharmaceutical- based healers, who heal by injecting potions into people. They likened the idea to the scene in the latest Star Trek movie when Dr. Bones keeps stabbing Kirk with syringes.
