The Queue: Comeback Kid
The new Sleigh Bells album is almost out! Aaahhh! I've heard the whole thing and, minus this song and one or two others, it's a lot less raucous than I thought it would be, based on Treats. I still like it, though.
Simpsons Rule asked:
I have a question: Has the Daily Quest column been canceled? There hasn't been a post since January 27.
Nope! Not in spirit, anyway. Some of you guys may have noticed slight changes in the format here, and this is one of them. Basically, we're trying to make sure that really cool stuff like interesting community blogs and fan creations doesn't get lost in our daily content cycle. To that end, we're spotlighting things more individually and not under a single banner like The Daily Quest. You'll note we've done this with other columns as well, like our roleplaying column, among others.
Revynn asked:
What new tamable hunter pets would you like to see in MoP?
I'm a little biased, but I really want to see ungulates (like talbuks) be tameable. If you can tame a dinosaur or a hellbeast, you can tame an antelope.
intellectspeaks asked:
Would anyone be interested in commenting why the Heart of the Aspects mount in the pet store is BoP to the character that it is sent to, unlike Guardian Cub that was blizzard's experiment in BoE pet sales?
I'm curious as to what others think about the future of the blizzard's pet store as well as if this means the guardian cub was a failed test in uncharted waters.
I'm not sure we can really infer anything from this particular mount; Blizzard did say that the Guardian Cub was just a test, so expecting future store items not to be BoE/tradeable is more reasonable than expecting otherwise. I think the other issue is long-term viability of the item. It's not reusable, so the only reason you'd buy a second pet (or mount, or whatever) is for an alt. At what point does the gold gained from selling a highly proliferated single-use item stop being worth spending real money on it? Judging from the Guardian Cub, probably pretty quickly.
There's a reason why most games with cash shops make their money off of easily consumed, stackable items.
Deedea asked:
Last night I recieved an email from Blizzard Entertainment, addressed to one of my character names offering 7 free days. "Experience the Fall of Deathwing When You Return to World of Warcraft". Is this email real?
Yes, Blizzard has been sending these emails out. As always, make sure that the URL an email leads you to is legit before hitting buttons or giving out information.
katie.tiedeman asked:
Has there been any lore reason why there isn't a regular green drake mount? Bronze comes from Culling of Stratholme, Blue from Malygos, Red you buy from Wyrmrest, Black drops from Sartharion. Are the green dragons too busy dreaming to cart our butts around?
Nope, no lore reason -- no stated reason by the devs, though, either! Probably just an oversight. Admittedly, they haven't really matched thematically with anything we've been doing in the last two expansions, and the rest of the colored drakes we've been riding have.

There are Green Proto-drakes, but I don't know if that would count.
Do you think that Blizzard will ever separate the Old school PvP titles from the Rated BG titles? Like "Veteran High Warlord"?
Pugs 'R Us Feb 18th 2012 1:11PM
I read that as Vegetarian High Warlord. I wouldn't mind that aswell.

I read that is Vegetarian High Warlord, I wouldn't mind that either.

That'd be really cool, and it'd be nice to throw old-school players a bone like that, but it's really unlikely to ever happen. Even if it wouldn't be too much work, it would likely impact so few players that Blizzard wouldn't want to devote the resources to it.
Draelan Feb 18th 2012 1:56PM
"Even if it wouldn't be too much work, it would likely impact so few players that Blizzard wouldn't want to devote the resources to it."
... You mean like how they made the old lvl 60 gear unable to be transmogged and then went and created a vendor with transmoggable versions of the gear that can only be purchased by players who had the achievement for the OLD PvP titles?
Yeah... My belf pally WISHES they hadn't devoted the resources to that...
lazymangaka Feb 18th 2012 2:04PM
@Draelan,
It's tough to say what Blizzard is going to devote resources to these days, particularly with transmogrification. Anyone's guess is as good as mine.

I think we will see some green dragons in MoP.

Garrosh actually is a vegetarian. He only eats Night Elf druids.
eel5pe Feb 18th 2012 10:23PM
Anything's possible, but they made a conscious decision to grandfather in the old pvp titles when they implemented the new ones. Honestly though, how much attention do you pay attention to someone's title when you're actually PvPing? I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between a Blood Guard and a Stone Guard. And if you want to see if anyone has real PvP experience, ask them to link the achievement rather than the title.

"Garrosh actually is a vegetarian. He only eats Night Elf druids."
That just makes him gay - not vegan!

Does any one with Recruit-a-friend experience know if you get 39 TOTAL grant-able levels, or is it just 1 grant-able level every 2 levels gained? I'm pretty sure (from the FAQ) it's 39 total levels I just wanted some confirmation. Thanks guys/gals!
Chance Feb 18th 2012 12:54PM
I THINK it is more now. A friend of mine claims that he got his priest to level 80 without playing it at all. He has been known to exagerate so I would look into it further, but you may get 39 levels per toon that is leveled up during the trial period.
emberdione Feb 18th 2012 1:33PM
Before when it was 60, it was 30 levels (I used two toons leveled to 60 to grant levels to a 3rd and get her to 60 without doing anything). So if raf goes to 80 then it is 40.
Skyrei Feb 18th 2012 1:35PM
If memory serves, you get 1 grantable level for every 2 levels gained. Counting from 1 until the RAF cap at 80
icepyro Feb 18th 2012 3:38PM
It is one level grant-able to any of your toons of lower level (or 80, whichever number is lower) for every two levels (until 80, starting at 2) by each toon during the RaF period.
If the RaF levels two toons all the way to 80, you can create a toon and have it insta-80. If your friend goes on a binge and gets ahead of you, they can grant you the levels to catch up, but that counts against any levels they could grant later, and cannot grant you any levels beyond that toons current level. If your friend only reaches 40 on a toon, that toon cannot grant any levels to your level 41. If your friend continues one toon until 85, they can still grant only give 40 levels to a max level of 80, so your level 45 will be 80, and that 85 still has 5 levels that can be granted to other toons but not that one. If your friend has an 85, 60, and 20, and he grants levels from lowest to highest, you could get an insta-80. That has to be well played though as a level 85, 61, and 19, couldn't accomplish it (although at that point just earn level 2 yourself before granting levels begin as it takes longer to create a toon than to get to 2).
I can come up with more scenarios, but I think all the bases are covered, and if not, then please define a situation and we can answer better.
Auraman Feb 18th 2012 5:43PM
Wow thank you Icepyro! That was very in depth. That answered it. Sorry if the question seemed silly. I'm easily confused :P
talnhess Feb 18th 2012 12:30PM
It's been a while since I used it, but isn't the mount you get from the Oracle's mysterious egg a green proto-drake?
LynMars Feb 18th 2012 12:44PM
Proto-drakes aren't exactly the same as the current dragons. They're a bestial forerunner species the Titans used to make the powerful, intelligent, magical dragons we know now. They're two separate species, though I seem to recall a quest, I think, where some dragons feel a bit of responsibility toward their animalistic cousins, in ways that remind me of how people feel kinship with apes.
Methuus Feb 18th 2012 1:49PM
Drake and proto-drake are two different species in the game. The question in the queue was specifically about green drakes, not proto-drakes.
Niflo Feb 18th 2012 12:35PM
A friend of mine is really close with Alexis of Sleigh Bells. Great stuff!
