The Queue: Rule of Two
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
Mists of Pandaria feels like it's right around the corner, what with the press event taking place next month and the ongoing signs of an alpha in progress. However, we haven't been able to see any of that quite yet, so it's incredibly difficult to answer questions that include the phrase "in Mists of Pandaria" in them. "In Mists of Pandaria, will we be able to ...?" Who knows!
Hang onto those questions a while longer. Once we've seen more of Mists, we'll happily answer those sorts of questions. In the meantime, if you have questions about the current game, we would love to hear them. It would make writing this thing for you guys every day much easier, and what we write in it will actually be useful to all of you rather than nothing than speculative jibber-jabber.
Now let's hug.
Batlesh asked:
Will Blizzard ever get rid of that super pesky Sith "Rule of Two" obstacle when it comes to forming/entering raids?? Sometimes I just want to farm for old Tier gear without having to harass someone to jump on an alt and log out....
This is another one of those things where I can't say for certain, because I'm not a mind reader. However, this is a change I'd really like Blizzard to make. I absolutely hate bothering friends or guildmates to make a raid group for me when I want to go killing things in an old raid. They have better things to do. Especially if they need to pause their questing to make a raid for me.
@o_philosopho asked:
will we be able to name our companion pets in Mists of Pandaria?
My gut says no, but we don't know for certain either way. We haven't seen the Pet Battle system in action yet. Maybe we'll learn more about it at the Mists of Pandaria press event next month.
@Brennya asked:
do you think Blizzard will do any updates to gems, in regards to epics being raid only, before Mists is released?
This late in the game, I'm not sure there would be a point to that. We aren't gong to be getting new tiers of gear. Upgrading all of the gems in your existing gear just in time to get rid of all of it in Pandaria would be strange. If ever there were a time to do that, it would have been patch 4.3, not a Mists of Pandaria pre-release patch. So no, I don't think Blizzard will do anything with gems anymore this expansion.
@diegosacuna asked:
Any idea whats happened to the N'Zoth storyline?
N'Zoth still lurks in the darkest deeps. The moment you forget about him is the moment madness wins. It is out there, and it is coming.
Do not forget that. Do not ever forget that.

I suppose that must be why. Its slightly more convenient to get a group and travel via Direbrew's Remote than fly to the mountain and talk to the elf. Guess I'll keep at it.

I read somewhere that you will be able to name your companion pets. (Doesn´t mean it´s true, it was a german print magazine)
GormanGhaste Feb 20th 2012 11:46AM
It was stated verbally during the BlizzCon Mists of Pandaria Preview panel that we would be able to name mini-pets, but I haven't seen any written statements by Blizz to that effect.

Tracked down the video from BlizzCon; first mention of naming is a little after 2:30.

Darth Zannah is the dumbest Darth name ever. Might as well be Darth Huggles.

I have a level 10 alt on a trial account that I use specifically for forming a raid with myself. Suck on that, rule of two.
Luke Feb 21st 2012 3:17AM
How? No really I've tried, it didn't work.
Revynn Feb 20th 2012 11:08AM
Funny that you mention the Rule of Two, I've been considering pickin that series up for my Kindle now that I'm caught up on the Wheel of Time series again.
Also, I believe it's a bug, but if you're attuned to MC or BWL, you can currently enter through the attuned entrances without being in a raid group. Yes, I reported it like a good boy.
Question: Any tips for someone trying to figure out a Holy Priest at level 75. I pretty much have Shadow nailed, but I want to have a viable off-spec for this toon to avoid queue times and get a satchel or two.
Puntable Feb 20th 2012 11:37AM
Level 75? I would go Disc Atonement spec. Shield the tank, PoM on cooldown, and Spam Holy Fire and Smite with a target of target macro.
Calaana Feb 20th 2012 4:50PM
Renew on tank, heal chakra, pom your life out and coh/binding heal your little heart out as required. Toss the odd heal/chakra heal on the tank to keep renew rolling.
Jennifer Feb 20th 2012 11:08AM
Question 1: There are some older raids you can enter without being grouped.
Question 2: Pet naming is one of the things they specifically mentioned at Blizzcon.

For those who are too lazy or can't click on that link, here is a transcribed quote:
"There is also going to be a lot of customization. Things like being able to name your pets [crowd cheers], having different ones, things like being able to give them individual abilities, we'll get into that a little more in a bit."
Philster043 Feb 20th 2012 4:28PM
I'm deaf, so thanks for that Pyro! :)
Tanddori Feb 20th 2012 11:08AM
Do you think the Toxic Wastling is going to go the same route as the Sinister Squashling? ie, go Bind on use?
I have a few sitting in the bank that I would hate to see go to waste.
Amoracchia Feb 20th 2012 11:14AM
I would doubt it since the Squashling can be bought from a vendor during the holiday as well as dropped in multiple ways. The wastling, on the otherhand, can only be gained by killing the Crown Chemical Co. guys.
Tanddori Feb 20th 2012 11:21AM
Mmm, good point. Oh well, I'll hold on to them just in case but you're probably right.
Pyromelter Feb 20th 2012 1:59PM
I thought somewhere recently blizz said that all pets were going to be BOE, so I would definitely hold on to those bad boys, especially if the Mists pre-expansion patch unbinds them in the fall, you can make quite a bit of gold.
Noyou Feb 20th 2012 6:57PM
I second Pyro. I have a few pets that didn't un bind. I think the rule is- pets you can purchase with holiday tokens will be BoE. I sent my peddlefoot companion to like 4 alts to get the achieve. :p Shhh. Don't tell anyone!
t5heacock Feb 20th 2012 11:12AM
I may be wrong but I am pretty sure they said we would be able to name are companion pets at Blizzcon. That said nothing at Blizzcon is ever final.
Alex Ziebart Feb 20th 2012 12:07PM
Yeah, such is BlizzCon. They said it but it doesn't mean it will happen. Path of the Titans and the initial gameplan for patch 4.1 should've taught us that. :P
When I see it in-game, then I'll say yes or no for sure.
