Yak mounts lumbering your way in Mists of Pandaria

We were actually just discussing what the pandaren mount might be when this news came out. Blizzard joked about it at BlizzCon, with its mockup of a pandaren mount as a huge bouncy ball with a seat on top. Mat McCurley's personal opinion is (verbatim) "probably, like, a big frog maybe?" I feel it'll probably be something a little more dignified. Like a rickshaw.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion, raising the level cap to 90, introducing a brand new talent system, and bringing forth the long-lost pandaren race to both Horde and Alliance. Check out the trailer and follow us for all the latest MoP news!

Hmm, comment system ate the guild name "The Royal Kilted Yaksmen" because it doesn't like angle brackets.

It seems to fit, actually. I think Yaks and Water Buffalos are used in China and other Asian countries, and in fact, I was telling my friend "I think water buffaloes should be their mount." Yaks are fairly close. :D
Since Pandaren are rather stocky, I think a large animal like a Yak would work well, and they would seem to fit in very well with the landscape. Plus, they seem very practical. Pandaren seem like pretty practical people.

So, we get a gnu mount with the gnu expansion?
Al Feb 22nd 2012 5:55AM

Okay. You not only win all the internets today, but have convinced me there needs to be a WoW guild named in that clip's honor.

That episode of the Ren & Stimpy show is what our guild (<The Royal Kilted Yaksmen> on Arathor-EU) *is* already named after, and has been for over 6 years ...

How boring - we've had rams and mammoths as mounts for a long time. These will just look like a very similar combination of the two.
I'd much rather see some sort of steampunkish rocket sled / copter mount. The Chinese were the first to develop explosives and fireworks, etc. so it would fit in with that.

Great....one _more_ large thing to block doorways and mailboxes....*shakes head*

CUTE!!
His idle animation should be chewing, with green bits sticking out of his mouth. Also, I will constantly want to trim his bangs.

My tauren approves this. DO WANT!
Possum Feb 23rd 2012 1:26AM
You know it isn't going to be legal for your Tauren to marry their mount.

Just going to weigh in and say I don't like the big mounts. I didn't like the Northrend Mammoths (aptly named) and from the looks of them, I won't like these. They are too much trouble getting through doorways, they take up too much room on the screen, and they just aren't very pretty. Might not be the most popular of opinions, but figured I'd weigh in.

I once shot a yak in my pajamas.

What was a Yak doing in your pajamas?
