hystrico asked:
any word on recipes in MoP? Like, should I be stocking up on Chef's Awards?
I had an issue with the original removal of the limit on Chef's Awards because of just this question. Obviously we have no idea how the new recipes and stuff will work for new dailies and all that, but one of the reasons I liked the limit on how many awards you could store up was because it kept that currency artificially deflated. When Blizzard removed that limit, everyone stocked up on Chef's Awards, so how do you fairly price new recipes with that currency? Who do you design for -- the guy who saved up 2,000 Chef's Awards or the guy who didn't? Which is fair?
Personally, I'd like to see Blizzard reinstate the limit, making one currency for each profession's dailies and recipe purchases and simplifying the whole thing once and for all. Hoarding tokens isn't fun, just like hoarding points isn't fun. Well, it's kind of fun.
Someone interrupted my writing of the last paragraph on AIM with:
So, what's this I keep hearing about March and press and Mists of Pandaria?
Blizzard has announced a Mists of Pandaria press tour kicking off in March with a big press something-or-other and promises of lots of new information about the next expansion. This fact has led us all to speculate on what that timing could mean for a release date or projected release window. Press is a big deal in the video game industry, because hype is absolutely everything. The more you penetrate the mainstream media with stories about tons of gamers lining up or huge events, the better.
So the press tour begins in March, which means we're going to get the "face" of Mists of Pandaria then. What do I mean? I mean we will see the pitch. Here's what is new and exciting, Blizzard will tell us, and we will respond. We've already been shown the premise, but now we need to see the pitch. Show us those character models, Blizzard. You know you want to.
@eresin84 on Twitter asked:
Did things move pretty quick between Aggra and Thrall? She's preggers at the end of DW fight.
Thrall and Aggra have been together for an ... acceptable period of time, I would think. We don't know what's cool in orcish culture with kids and all that, so we just speculate. Hey, Chris Metzen, where's my rulebook and reference guide on orc societal mating customs and premarital lifemate shamanism? I need it to answer this question.
@credgett on Twitter asked:
who is Tyrygosa that is mentioned during the DS raid? I havent come across her in game before
Tyrygosa is a blue dragon that featured prominently in The Sunwell Trilogy. She is at the Wyrmrest Temple helping to defend against Deathwing. Check out her Wowpedia page.
People on Twitter asked me:
Wait, is there really going to be a WoW Insider Show Podcast panel at PAX East this year?
Yes. We will have more details for you soon.

As long as there is LFR/LFD people will congregate in one spot. Until I see otherwise.
Tarvos Feb 22nd 2012 12:50PM
@ the question about Thrall & Aggra - if you read "Rise of the Horde" which describes the meeting and union of Thrall's parents, then it's probably safe to assume that orc relations can occur pretty spontaneously and permanently. One good hunt is all they need apparently!

I was wondering what people thought about how they will handle Archaeology in the coming expansion. If you save up 200 fragments and rune stones etc for each race then you could probably get world first "Super Grand Master Digger" fairly quickly. Do you think they will require you to get different things in order to level the profession?

I've been reading various comments on the interwebs that lead me to think that soloing old content in MoP may not be as possible as I had previously thought. If the whole "item stat crunch thingy" (technical term there) happens, many people think that it would make it much more difficult, if not impossible, to go back and solo things like Onyxia (to farm for the mount) and would require grouping up again to tackle the older content.
I've looked, albeit very briefly, around to see if there is a definitive answer from Blizzard, but haven't come across it. I was hoping perhaps someone there may have seen something or may be able to help me figure out whether soloing old raid/dungeon content is still going to be possible in MoP or not.
As I see it, I think that if the crunch affects players and item stats, it should affect bosses and abilities as well, yes? No?
Puntable Feb 22nd 2012 1:32PM
It was probably never intended that a player can solo what used to take 40 players. If the "item squish" changes this, then Blizzard will probably think it is a good change.
Shinae Feb 22nd 2012 1:39PM
It's called "item squish" actually. :)
Ghostcrawler made a post about it... a few months ago, was it now? We haven't heard whether or not it's going to happen; GC was just putting it forth as a (strong) possibility.
The way I understood it is that the squish will apply to mob and boss stats as well. Stats may not scale for players and mobs at the same rates, but it sounds like it wouldn't be drastically different than it is now. However, we don't know for sure; no further information has been released from Blizzard since Ghostcrawler's post.
Shinae Feb 22nd 2012 2:33PM
Here's a link to GC's post about it:

@Puntable - I understand that "It was probably never intended that a player can solo what used to take 40 players" -IF- you are talking about players who are all the same level, within the level-respective gear, etc. However, I have never seen that Blizzard has a problem with people coming back to older content to solo it... if anything, they praise the creativity and resourcefulness of those individuals who choose to respec their character with soloing in mind and use whatever tools at their disposal to take on a boss that wasn't intended to be soloed when the content was current.
In other words, I'm not so sure that they would think "it is a good change."
@Shinae - Thanks for the link, although I'm not sure what to think about it - depending on how much they nerf previous expansion gear to make the current expansion gear seem superior without having massive numbers, it may indeed make some older content harder to solo given the huge spike in gear we have now.

I am really hoping we get an item squish announcement for Pandaria. I have been getting back into the game a bit more lately (LFR and BGs sparked my interest again) and my main has been finish up his gear set - mostly 384 and 397 PvE pieces. As a tank, running a random LFD, and having a Shaman healer - I see myself well over 230k health.
That is Too. Damn. High!
Big numbers are fun for a bit, but they start to lose their meaning quickly. Who is going to care about having one million health when bosses have 20 billion and hit for 900k?

Q4tQ: Do we have any idea what the Pandaren crest will look like? I'll bet it has something to do with that leaf symbol they're wearing on their belt.
Shinae Feb 22nd 2012 2:29PM
Yeah, it'll probably be something like that.

I know this is a wow site, and a place for wow questions, but hey, I know we are all waiting for diablo 3, so my question is this: in diablo we were able to go and kill a certain boss over and over for loot and exp, aka baal runs or something like that. Will we be able to do that in diablo 3 with say.. the last boss in act 1?

with the panderian female do you think blizz is going to go down the route of worgen and tauren as in "sexy" animals or (hopefully) they go for the more realistic animal-humanoid look? Any way i'll be happy as long as they keep their iconic cartoony style
