Like I said in response to hystrico's question about Chef's Awards yesterday, stocking up on them is not going to help with buying the new recipes that will be added in Mists. A new expansion means a new currency for new cooking recipes.

At the very least, the tokens will be wiped and converted to some form of compensation, like what Blizzard does with VP and CP each major patch. This is to be expected; it is, after all, going to be a new xpac. No one will be given a leg up.

"Who do you design for -- the guy who saved up 2,000 Chef's Awards or the guy who didn't? Which is fair?"They'll do the exact same thing they did with Pyrite, for exactly this reason- your stockpiled points (all of them) will be useless.

Though you are undoubtedly right Shinae, I hope Mat's idea (simplifying the currencies at least for trade-skill dailies) is carefully considered by the devs. I am sick to death of, new patch - new currency, new x-pac - new currency, new world event (or old event redone) - new currency. I'm fairly certain that there are more currencies on Azeroth - a world with about 30-40 nations - than there are on Earth - a world with over 300 nations.

Shinae is correct. It will be a new currency, and we won't lose the currency we already have. The Dalaran Cooking Awards couldn't be used for Cataclysm recipes, and we didn't lose those awards when Cataclysm launched. Dalaran Cooking Awards can be used to buy Northern Spices; Chef's Awards can be used to buy random Cataclysm meat and Cocoa Beans. A stockpile of 2,000 Chef's Awards will mean the same as a stockpile of 2,000 Dalaran Cooking Awards: use 'em, save 'em, ignore 'em. They don't take up inventory space, they can't be traded. My guess is that Pandaren Cooking dailies will take place in Pandaria. Probably not a neutral quest giver, since both SW and Org are lagfests as is; more likely the major travel hub for each faction. And I'd guess there will be level requirements. And the dailies probably won't give a skill-up, since you can already do that back home.

I expect Chef's Awards will remain the current currency, and people holding Chef's Awards when MOP hits will have them converted to "Apprentice's Awards" or something. I wouldn't be surprised if they roll Dalaran Cooking Awards and current Chef tokens into the same "Old receipe token" currency to simplify things, like they did with Justice/Valor/Heroism/Triumph/Conquest/Frost
