@Pyromelter - here's what she replied to me when I commented about playing without a UI:

"The built-in video recorder for the Mac allows you to toggle whether your UI will be visible in the video or not, and whenever I want to shoot something without any distracting elements around, I just toggle it off."

Obviously, there must be some sort of feature that allows the video recorder to ignore the UI. I guess there's no addons for screenshotting that take advantage of this feature, or they'd be pretty popular.
