Could be wrong, but in the WoW universe, the glaive can also mean huge shuriken like things that Maiev wielded.Could also be a reference to the Glaive in "Krull", which was a shuriken/switchblade thing.

You beat me, I went to try and find a quick description of Krull's glaive so use it like Frost did with the stupid polearm ref.

I was thinking we would be tossing out something like illidans warglaives seeing as we chuck 2 of them. That would just be too bad ass to put in the game but I can always dream.

Which brings me back to something I was hoping to see in MoP: the thrown weapon hunter.Blizzard could leave thrown weapons in the game and change their stats a bit to make them viable hunter weapons and update all hunter abilities to work with thrown weapons (remember, all the other classes, including rogues, are losing the thrown weapon slot). Then we could have Elven hunters using the night elf glaives, or chakram (the thrown disc weapon) wielding hunters, or even a thrown dagger hunter. In terms of game mechanics, the thrown weapons would operate the same as the current three hunter weapons, but it would open up some interesting player cosmetic/RP choices.

Ah, interesting -- I wasn't aware of the lore version. I only knew what a glaive actually was -- and WoW also has lots of glaives that are actual two-handed polearms.

There are also the glaives Wesley Snipes used in the Blade movies and IIRC the Beastmaster (yes, the 80s cheese flick) had a thrown type glaive as well. I'm sure this is what Blizz has in mind and not a pole. Also this:http://questional.com/images/uploads/75/World-of-Warcraft-weapons45-Glaives.jpg

http://www.wowpedia.org/images/a/af/Darnassus_Sentinels_TCG.jpgThis is the glaive they will more than likely use. It's an ability with a night elf flair so I don't see them going any other way.

The "Warcraft Glaive" is an Elven weapon. That's why you're confused Frost. It's not dwarven! It's the iconic Sentinel weapon, similar to the Tauren's totem. Also like the Tauren totem, player characters can't use glaives. The exception is Illidan's Warglaives, which are a very different style from the 3-pronged Sentinel weapon. Jordan's link is an excellent picture of the Sentinel Glaive.

Just look at the GLAIVE throwers in Isle of Conquest. Pretty obvious they're not tossing around big polearms.
