Enter Captain Placeholder. While Blizzard took the boats offline for some needed upgrades, Captain Placeholder teleported players around the world. When the boats were ready to return ... Captain Placeholder disappeared.
Given Garrosh's many failures, I think it's time for a new Warchief ... and Captain Placeholder is the man for the job. Think about it! He's one of Azeroth's most vaunted heroes. Bigger than Bolvar. Bigger than Vol'jin.
Captain Placeholder is the Warchief the Horde deserves, though maybe not the Warchief it needs right now.

I always hated him. If the ship disappeared and dumped me in the sea I could hearth to safety. If I died in the Wetlands and my wisp appeard in Darkshore or Dustwallow Marh (yeah, that happened a lot), I could take the boat back to my corpse. But when placeholder came along, I was forced to use the nearest spirit healer until he went away.

I do so love Cranius!! I never personally met Captain placeholder but through this video, I miss him as if I had.

I disagree. Garrosh is a true orc, unlike the "human" thrall. He did what he needed to do and has made mistakes, akin to every single other ruler, but because of his perceived bloodlust, he's branded as a meat head.
Well duh, he's an orc.

Garrosh is a dribbling moron who thinks war is fun. "ZOMG the Lich King/Deathwing/Hogger has unleashed an attack to destroy all life. Perfect time to go after those Alliance scum who I hate for no reason. Splitting our forces on so many fronts against self-made enemies rather than dealing with the omnicidal super-powered monster is a good thing!"

This is one of the videos that inspired me to try my hand at making a movie. No fancy animation, no lame jokes. Just a point to make and beautiful in-game footage.

In the Cataclysm beta, they brought him back as a non-functional NPC. He was Horde-aligned.
Didn't help for the Horde-bias arguments.

This was my first exposure to Cranius and Legs' work. It's always been my favorite. I never had the Placeholder experience, but I keep hoping that somewhere, Blizzard will put him back if for no other reason than to just be there.
