I think the beginning of the end of 25 man raiding came with the shared lockout with 10 mans. Our guild used to have 2 to 3 ten-man teams that would run throughout the week and then come together for a big sunday afternoon 25 man raid.

When Cata came, we set it up so the 10-mans would run BoT and then we'd try to come together for BWL. It was very clunky since part of the appeal of the old system is the ten-man raiders would learn the fights and be prepared for the 25-man raids.

And then Firelands came...
