Breakfast Topic: What was your first world drop epic?
Torrg over on the official forums posed a very nostalgic question:
What was your first epic world drop?Sadly, my first purple was something I couldn't use. I was leveling my very first character to 70 during The Burning Crusade, a night elf druid, and I was doing some quests in Tanaris. I was just outside of one of the hives of silithid working my way in, sneaking around in cat form trying to avoid as many of those horrid bugs as possible, when I backed right into one of the suckers. It was an epic battle as I fumbled with keybinds, running around the mob trying to Shred it (OK, perhaps I wasn't the brightest druid out there).
Somehow I came out on top -- and what do you know, the creepy crawler dropped a Gut Ripper. I was crushed when I found out that I couldn't use it, so I sold it on the Auction House for a couple of hundred gold. That kind of money is a decent chunk of change for a new player in their 40s, but with the daunting cost of flying mounts and training later on, it wasn't much more than a drop in the bucket.
So what was your first Professor Plum?

Merciless Gladiator's Salvation. The first thing I bought when my boomkin turned 70. :-) Wasn't very lucky with world dorps, in fact I only got my first one at the end of WotLK while farming Timbermaw rep.

I don't remember if it was the first but back when I was leveling my rogue, he got a sword out of a junkbox.

I went back and forth for a level or 2, deciding if I wanted to use it or sell it. I looked it up on wowhead and saw it was pretty rare. After holding onto it for a few months, I finally decided to sell it. Didn't get anywhere close to the gold I thought I would. I wish I still had it.

Could have fetched a pretty penny from transmogrification if you still had it.

Flurry Axe, dropped for my pally in Un'goro Crater off one of a trio of dinos. This was during BC and it sold nicely.

I got one of those too, but off of a wolf in the Hinterlands. I waffled on selling it or keeping it (was an Enhancement Shammy) and decided to keep it. It was good times.

Mine was a Flurry Axe as well on my first toon early in Wrath. I didn't even know what a purple BOE was and I equipped it. It is currently residing in Void Storage.
After the Dungeon Finder came out, I was on an alt in Sunken Temple and another one dropped and someone in the group needed it. The heirloom-geared tank went ballistic and deliberately wiped the group because we weren't as outraged as he was.

It was on my 1st toon, my mage. I had just run across the Thandol Span to get into Arathi and had killed a camp of Dark Iron dwarves, while i was looting i saw an item with purple text which i didn't recognise Wall of the Dead. I didn't know how must to sell it for so i tried to sell it for 50 gold, till a friend explained what epics were. In the end i couldn't sell it for high enough so I used it on my paladin for a while.

I honestly do not know, too many characters and too long playing and ruined my memory, but this expansion saw me getting flurry axe while leveling up skinning. and icebone hauberk while killing some villagers on tol barad.

My first world Epic was Lei of Lillies whilst leveling my Priest. It dropped off some random mob in Sunken temple. The proper old multi layer one.
Bril Feb 26th 2012 12:20PM
Got that on a priest in the cave near Nethergarde Keep. Couldn't sell that for anything.

Kang the Decapitator. It dropped off a Tar Lord in Un'goro. I was still relatively new to the game and it was a very exciting find!
Revnah Feb 26th 2012 8:27AM
I'll never forget that one! It was the Glowing Brightwood Staff, lvl 49 requirement, that dropped in Blackrock Depths for mah Revnah when she be a little troll girl. Carried it proudly all the way to Outland :-)

That was also my first ever epic drop :D
Went to my main character at the time - a priest. I don't remember where I found it, but I think it might have been in Felwood, in the vicinity of Jaedenar. Just seems to ring a bell ;)

Same here, I was farming furbie rep in felwood and the glowing brightwood staff dropped, it got me epic riding, back when that meant something in vanilla.

I believe mine was the Staff of Jordan. Considering I was levelling a warlock at the time, I was very happy!

Skullflame Shield (http://www.wowhead.com/item=1168) dropped for me when I was farming Deadwood mobs for Timbermaw rep back in the day in Felwood. It looked so epic I jsut had to level my bank alt paladin just to equip it - and it's now my proud transmog look for the healing shield :)

Precisely Calibrated Boomstick http://www.wowhead.com/item=2100
Dropped in Searing Gorge back in BC. Had to wait a few levels before I could use it. Fired like a machine gun, burnt ammo like kindling. Groups got tired of it REALLY fast.
