The Queue: I would not hire Tails
It's time for an other episode of Dumb Things From the '90s That We All Loved and Have Nothing to do With World of Warcraft! Sonic Sez!
Now on to the Q&A.
Bynes asked:
If I remember correctly, the devs said we'd come to a point while leveling our Pandaren in MoP where we choose our allegiance to either the Horde our Alliance. Does this mean we'll be able to mail things to these characters from our alts before they choose? Meaning, can both my Orc and Human send them mail before they choose a faction?
At BlizzCon 2011, I believe Blizzard stated pandaren will not have access to mail or mailboxes until they've chosen a faction. Your example assumes a brand new pandaren will belong to both factions before they've made their decision. The reality will be that your pandaren belongs to neither faction and probably will have the mail function disabled altogether.
Scuac asked:
Why does WoW Insider insist in calling Arcane Brilliance a "weekly" column
I love to read the archmage articles, and it is always sad to have my anticipation for a new column crushed by the realization that there will be none this week.
Because time, health, and general cosmic activity permitting, it is one. However, you need to be mindful of the fact that for the vast majority of our columnists, WoW Insider is a secondary, part-time gig. In some cases, it's Gig the Third. When life gets hecka busy, something's gotta give, and finding the time to write about video games is pretty low priority.
This is a professional gig, and I do expect our staffers to communicate their missed columns with me. That being said, if one of our columnists ends up in a (theoretical) situation where they're working overtime at their day job, their kids have the flu, and their basement flooded, I'm just going to say, "Dude(tte), it's cool, step away from the keyboard. Chill out and skip the World of Warcraft for a week."
These things happen.
Besides, you know as well as I do that Belt's columns are totally worth the wait.
EyeKyu asked:
Next month I`m going for 2 weeks in europe in vacation. Am I going to be able to log in and play wow from there on my laptop?
Yep! Your connection will likely be laggy because you'd still be connecting to servers based in the United States, but nothing will stop you from logging in.
arkhan asked:
Have you selected a new warlock columnist yet?
Yes. Hopefully you will see her very soon. I'm pretty excited.

Lore question: If the Ashbringer's power comes from its light-imbued crystal, does that mean it would be as effective against demons as it is against the undead? for that matter, do demons have the same vulnerabilites to the light (such as they are) as the undead?
G0rehowl Feb 27th 2012 11:33AM
Not sure about from a lore point but in game play a paladins light powered attacks such as exorcism and avengeing wrath do extra damage to both undead and demons. So it is safe to say they are vulnerable to the light and combine that with the ashbringer...well lets just say you'll need a broom and dust pan to clean up the mess
Drakkenfyre Feb 27th 2012 12:06PM
Exorcism used to do NO damage at all to anything not undead. You can't use that from a lore-perspective. They added damage to it so it woudn't be useless in PVP, and in anything but undead PVE, but it did extra damage to them.
Culhag Feb 27th 2012 12:11PM
Initially (probably until patch 1.9) Exorcism and Holy Wrath only worked against Undead. Then Demons were added to make the spells a bit more useful.
Then (I don't remember when) the spells were changed to work on everything but auto-crit (Exo) / stun (HW) Demons and Undead.
So I think them affecting Demons is mostly a gameplay related decision. I wouldn't draw conclusions for the lore.

It changed sometime in early Wrath, I think.

Her? Oh heck yeah.
Q:
From a lore perspective, as a wielder of Dragonwrath, am I a member of the Blue Dragonflight?
HappyTreeDance Feb 27th 2012 11:19AM
That's going to make the Archmage Pants/Warlock rivalry even more interesting, isn't it?
Goarther Feb 27th 2012 11:53AM
Her means she is obviously the succubus
Archmage pants just conjured water in his dress
Shinae Feb 27th 2012 1:19PM
I don't think a character with Dragonwrath would be considered a member of the Blue Dragonflight. Mainly because your character is not a dragon. Being able to look like one is just a shapeshift.
At most, the character is a highly honored friend and hero to the Blues, but again, not a member.

Her? But Snape is not a girl?!?!
Revynn Feb 27th 2012 1:44PM
- "Being able to look like one is just a shapeshift."
Thats the thing. Tarecgosa lives inside of you during the quest chain. I am permanently bound to a staff that is he permanent home of a prominent member of the Blue Dragonflight. I helped elect Kalecgos into leadership and attended his Ascendance.
I may not be a Dragon, but when does that cease to matter?
Drakkenfyre Feb 27th 2012 2:27PM
I am going to make a Star Wars joke here.
Han Solo saved Chewie's life once. Chewie is permanently bound (by his own choice, and custom) to Han because he saved his life.
Han is not a Wookie.
Simply containing a dragon once and being bound to the staff the dragon is now in does not make you a member of that flight.

Better analogy: Galadriel gives a bunch of non-elves leaves of Lorien. One can even interpret that Galadriel imprinted a part of her essence onto Frodo.
That didn't make Frodo an elf.
It made him an extremely special and revered individual, but it didn't make him an elf.
Prissa Feb 27th 2012 4:33PM
I interpreted the question less as "am I now a member of the species?" and more "am I now a member of the governing council of the species?"
The way I understood it, it was never you and always Tarecgosa. She needed to be present, so seeing as you were holding onto her, you were there too by default. That's why we were making the awesome staff so she could live in that and leave you. The Blue Dragonflight now have a sincere and profound respect for you because of all that you did to help Tarecgosa, but I don't think they will be wanting -you- at any of their future meetings. Maybe your staff, but not you.

I wonder if the Archmage/Warlock rivalry will get to the point of crossing into kismesis territory. >:?
Revynn Feb 27th 2012 5:39PM
- "I interpreted the question less as "am I now a member of the species?" and more "am I now a member of the governing council of the species?" ".
That's exactly what I was getting at. As someone who has actively participated in the governing of an organization, am I not by default a member of that organization? The question wasnt one of species, but organization and affiliation.
I actually went back and re-read the quest chain and I'm inclined to say that you guys are right, but I kept pressing the argument because it's fun to debate geek lore. =)
Pyromelter Feb 27th 2012 8:09PM
Hmm, well if you put it that way, if I go back to my LOTR analogy, they did make Pippin an official knight of Gondor... and Merry a squire of Rohan...
Now I don't know what to think O.o
Andras Feb 27th 2012 11:09AM
Such a shame that I won't be able to send my heirlooms to my Panda. I have 10 alliance characters and would like to experience the 'dark side' next expansion . I hear that they had cookies :D
raingod Feb 27th 2012 11:16AM
You can still send them, just not retrieve them till level 10. Not a big deal, it only took me about 2 hours of play time to get to 10 on my rogue without any looms.
Thal Feb 27th 2012 11:15AM
If on the same server, you can send your heirlooms from an Alliance character to a Horde one and vica versa.
