Breakfast Topic: Do you have a special spot in WoW?

I bet you're all glad the whole Valentine's Day thing is long gone, so please rest assured this post is not about that! Let's say it's kind of inspired by that. Happy?
I count myself really lucky to have met a great guy through WoW. I hear it happens more than one might imagine, and I can only assume that that's because everyone who plays WoW is wonderful. I will not hear of your evidence to the contrary, so zip it.
When my sweetheart and I first started chatting in-game, a lot of the time it was PvP-related, and we used to duel on the top of the highest hill in the Stormwind area. It was the only place I even had a chance of winning at the time, seeing as I was a protection paladin with zero resilience and he was an experienced affliction warlock. Let's not discuss my dubious early PvP choices now, though.
That hill kind of became a special place by association, the place I'd go whenever I was idly wandering or just chatting rather than doing anything useful. It's got a great view and a lot of happy memories associated with it. So it made sense to me to get a Romantic Picnic Basket and Have Group Will Travel him up there on Valentine's.
Do you have a special place in WoW? It doesn't have to be for romantic reasons, of course -- it could be for anything. Why is it special to you? How did you find it? What do you do there and why?

Oh yes I do.
Revantusk Village. More specifically, the tribal drumming and Otho the dancing shopkeeper. Whenever I want to wind down, I visit, unequip weapons and the more bulky armour (shoulders, gloves) and /dance with Otho.
I could do this for hours. Then sometimes I say hello to Lard the orge innkeeper and ascend up the stairs to the highest point in the village, looking out over the sea and the giant turtles meandering about the shore.
The Hinterlands are Revnah's spiritual home, and since she is a true tribal troll who loves dancing to drums, Revantusk Village is the place she feels best (apart from Darkspear Isle of course).

Yeh, the Revantusk drums are legendary.
With my assortment of darkspear trolls, I love to hang out in Sen'jin, right near the tribal kettle of witch doctor in training Bom'bay. Sometimes fishing in the little pond, sometimes sitting on the palm tree watching low-lvl trolls, occasionally handing out small bags or warning them of the scorpions around.

Awww Durandal, that sounds lovely! Senjin is great. Do you know that spot by the water, the Northernmost point where the rocks start? That's a wonderfully quiet spot for a picnic, or to watch the sunset.
I actually found a screenshot of Rev an Otho in Revantusk Village, shimmying their booties together - check it out :-)

Depends on which character I'm on, but for my Allies it tends to be Darnassus. It's my Dad's favorite capitol city, and we all kind of used to hang out there. It has some great stories like "Remember that time Dad (a boomkin) was dueling Chikasumi (my sister, a demonology warlock) and he knocked her right off the edge of the tree? Good times!".
Grizzly Hills is also special, as it is unanimously my families favorite zone, and my nelf always fishes there on days when I'm determined to get that turtle mount of die trying (three years, never seen it, I'm leaning toward the later at this point).
On my main belf, she likes to hang out in the Tauren district of Ogr whenever I'm waiting or not doing anything. There are several reasons for this, some of them character RP and some of them just me and my love for all things Tauren.

I still enjoy riding up through the crater to the Dark Portal to outlands. It still gives a sense of awe after all this time.
ambermist Feb 28th 2012 9:44AM
This. All of my characters make the trip to the Dark Portal and walk through it the first time they go to Outlands, and I can't imagine doing it any other way.

The Stormwind Cemetary. Not so depressing or sad as you might think. Ive lost both my parents and a much loved older brother who are laid to rest about 1000 miles from where I live now. So, when I pay my respects to them, I venture to a particular group of headstones, turn off trade chat and remember them.

There's a little sky island just north of Dalaran that I used to like to land on, during Wrath. You can read the city chat, but you're away from the lag and bustle of the city streets. I liked to wait for raids to form there. Never shared it with anybody, but it was my special little place. I was so glad when they put the single portal back in Dalaran, so that I could hearth there again and hang out on my island.
Vjax Feb 28th 2012 8:43AM
Same here, that little island was a great place to sit and form up 25 mans or just watch the folks flying into the fp. Only walked off accidently once :-)
ambermist Feb 28th 2012 9:45AM
I miss Dalaran in general. I really, really loved that place.
Noyou Feb 28th 2012 10:16AM
Whenever I want to relax in Dalaran, I fly to the top of the violet citadel. It's a pretty amazing view, with some nice colors mixed in.

The little hut in the Valley of Wisdom to the right of the bank (across the path from the AH).
Only ever 2 npcs in there and the music is much better than the standard Orgrimmar sounds.
It's like my world away while still spending time in the city.

For reasons still unknown to this day, I always park all of my Alliance toons in the Stonefire Tavern in Ironforge. I've been playing for roughly 5 years now, and it's always been "home" on the Alliance side for me.
ambermist Feb 28th 2012 9:50AM
My husband favored Ironforge, too. For him, it was the wagon to the side of the bank.
He played a gnome rogue throughout vanilla, and whenever he'd get done with a raid and wrap up his guild business, he'd take his little rogue, jump in the wagon, and /sleep. When he quit the game, I was tasked with cleaning out his characters and sending their gold and supplies to myself.
Since I was the last one to see his characters in-game, I took each of them to a special place to log out. His mage was at the top spire of Dalaran in his Wound Dressing, weary from the battle, and his Death Knight returned to Ebon Hold, but his little rogue made a trip to Ironforge to sleep in his favorite wagon.
I'm not going to lie, I shed a few tears.
Luotian Feb 28th 2012 10:11AM
@ambermist: Not going to lie, reading about that little gnome my eyes kind of welled up a little too.

That used to be the Wetlands bridge just before entering the port Minithel harbor before CATA.
The storms in that place were awesome.
I filmed 2 or 3 different avatars there standing on the bridge before the harbor.
What a sught it was with all that rain...
Again: for those logging to view the world: do the iron man challenge and see what a great big world this is.
You are never gonna experience this again (I doubt even Titan will be as gigantic as Azeroth).
Ozzard Feb 28th 2012 8:55AM
The Tauren starting village, pre-Cata. A peaceful place to be, and a celebration of life. Now gone, probably forever :-(.

As weird as it sounds, it's one of the bedrooms at the inn in Goldshire. Since I don't have a ongoing subscription due to school, I buy a card, play until the time is basically up, and then send all my Alliance characters to /sleep there. It's just a little ritual I do to keep them doing something else instead of awkwardly standing in one place, and that way when I play again, they jump straight out of bed almost as if they're saying "I've been expecting you".
