I also recognise that all the new races that get added over time feel secluded during the starting experience, and unfortunately the only decent way to make them work in the old content is to treat it as a story being told to them by a veteran of the events of the zone, lorekeepers, if you will. NPCs who have elected to explain to these races why things are as they are in these areas.
It may seem like a cop-out, but it feels far better than removing stories/npcs/objects that help some relevance to the game's heritage. Likewise, it would stop issues of immersion breakage from constand jumping around. Seriously, the playing as a Pandaren in MoP is going to have a severe accordion effect. MoP > Cata > TBC > Wrath > Cata > MoP.
