Like everyone else I'd like to see this happen. They already got rid of limiting an account to a single faction on PvP servers, so when you say "it would also cross a line Blizzard has managed never to deliberately cross," I'm not sure I agree. Factions were removed as a barrier from keeping friends from playing together in a sense, they just left a smaller annoyance barrier in its place. But I did know a guy who had max-level Paladins on both factions on a single server, both equivalently geared, and primarily for PvP. He liked Paladins. It doesn't make it less stupid he had to do that to play with all his friends.
