It was touted that the point of MoP would be a massive escalation of WAR between the two factions. Bringing back the WAR to WARcraft.
Cross faction raiding, even with real ID, means that concept has to be put aside for this circumstance. Even Blizzard could not back peddle that largely for a mechanic.
I prefer EQ's handling of this, and would love it to be expanded on in a game. There are good and evil races. EVERYONE speaks a Common Tongue, and each race has it's own language. In the open world, you can group and raid and talk with whomever you want. You can learn other Racial languages if you spend enough time around people speaking it. Racial bias is up to the player. Just don't expect to be a High Elf and be able to walk into the Dark Elf city without guards swarming you.
Let all sides work together for the open goal - but keep the factions there and up to the players just how much they want to follow those set-in-stone guidelines in their own RP.
Me? As a Draenei player, I see myself spending too much time dueling with the Orcs and Blood Elves in my raid to get anything done.

They can say MoP is about "war" all they want. As a pvp player, I was SEVERELY disappointed during Blizzcon due to the LACK of pvp discussion. There wasn't even a panel about it. All the pvp talk came after.
Sorry, pvp in MoP is an afterthought, just like it is now. It's a mini-game within the greater raiding scene (there's a reason they made separate gear, instanced pvp, and have issues with trying to balance the two). MoP is introducing pokemon battles next, which is the same idea: another mini-game.
If you want quick access to meaningless player killing or ladder matches, WoW is great, and that's not changing, but several other genres (FPS, RTS, and now MOBAs). I play MMOs because they're supposed to be a persistent world where my actions make an impact. In terms of pvp, without being able to capture towns, guard instance entries, or protect their lowbies (which we had in Vanilla WoW), MMO PvP fans are choosing other games over WoW for their fix. If Blizz really was catering to these players, why did they wait until after their biggest press event to reveal them?
