Breakfast Topic: Is "For the Horde" obsolete?

The Forsaken are busy doing their own thing, as they always have. Vol'jin and the trolls were last seen sending emissaries to the Alliance to help contain the Zandalari. The tauren are still mourning Cairne and have little love for Garrosh. The blood elves lost their reason to stay in the Horde at the end of The Burning Crusade and seem to be sustained solely by inertia at this point. The only loyal Hordies left are the orcs themselves and the goblins, a race long known for their steadfast loyalties.
Of course, the Alliance isn't all too chummy, either. What do you think? Do the races need new battle cries, or will Mists of Pandaria spur a new wave of unity?

well, usually we don't have that either. =/

I'll be sticking with "For the Naaru!", thank you.
The Alliance are just the people who produce that Sulfurion Slammer my characters are so fond of.

Awesome! I like this. :)
WanderingNomad Mar 2nd 2012 9:06AM
I like the first one he mentioned.....
"NOT IN THE FAAAAAAAACE!!" (while they charge in, shields held high)
kinda catchy =)
Ikatsu Mar 2nd 2012 9:07AM
I go with "Death to the scourge and death to the Living!"
Swifteye Mar 2nd 2012 9:11AM
Heh... upon watching the Wrathgate cinematic over my shoulder, my brother (who has never actually played WoW) decided that the official Forsaken battle cry was "Death to whatever, and death to the living!"
... I think it fits them.

That picture makes me very happy.

"For the Horde!" is needed now more than ever. It's a call for disparate people to unite behind a single banner. Originally, that would be the Orcish tribes, now it's the allied races of the new Horde.
I'd like if the Alliance got something equally bad-ass. What about "Blades of Light!" or "Light's Justice". Probably end up with "For the King!"

We need our actual warchief back. He'll unite the races again. Otherwise, I don't see a Horde lasting another expansion of Garrosh's shenanigans.

This is a bit TFH of me here, but I feel it is the appropriate place for it.
We are getting a "neutral" race this expansion, the wow TCG introduced a third faction, infighting is rampant, and a war between light and darkness is coming that will make all mortal suffering trivial (or something....I'm a hordie, you should be happy I even know who Velen the boring is).
Do faction divisions make sense? Absolutely. People will always have different views on how to accomplish things. But do the divisions along the current lines make sense? No.
Why aren't the Tauren and the Night Elves on the same side? Most High Elves are Alliance at this point, and many of the Blood Elf Paladins (and others for that matter) could easily be more in keeping with those ideals. The Humans and Gnomes seems fine, but the Dwarves could easily be usurped by infighting and bad politics and become a hostile faction. The trolls have shown no distaste for working with the Alliance and have even stopped cannibalism (for the most part). The Goblins are all about the Benjamins, so they could go either way. The Forsaken have more in common with the Naga than any of their allies. The Draenei are taking a stance of non-involvement, barring the world ending. Where do you draw 2 groups out of those list of ideals?
Oh, and its the age of mortals, and the aspects are totally mortal now. Balancing factions around the Aspects makes just as much sense as the current Horde v Alliance nonsense.
I'm thinking we are either gonna get another faction or the choice of faction is going to be extended to a whole lot more than Pandas the expansion after MoP.

lok'tar ogar, for the Horde! We are the strongest we've ever been and only grow more powerful with each race the alliance bullies into our protection. Voljin and Sylvanas are just figureheads interested with their own pettey power games instead of the safety of the horde because Thrall didn't pick them to lead. They can easly be replaced with more agreeable leaders, already killed that senile old cow and put his yes man son in power. It's alliance propaganda that seeks to fragment the Horde and if you believe it perhaps you drawing breath has become obsolete.
Luotian Mar 2nd 2012 9:43AM
Absolutely not. There are many Hordies who hate Garrosh, but I would argue there's a lot who are just quiet about it who like his ideals if not his action. I'm absolutely more 'For the Horde' now than I was-- to the point I have a Horde sticker on my car.
Those of us who love it will stand true.
Lok'tar ogar! For the Horde!
evoxpisces Mar 2nd 2012 9:53AM
"For money and....beach front property!" is my rallying cry! I was never 100% "For the Horde", I just chose the side with the coolest races. Tauren, Trolls, Goblins, Draenei, and Worgen should start their own faction together because they're all my favorites XD

Yes, exactly!!! I have no idea why people continue to say that we don't have an alliance battle cry.
For Gnomeregan!
sjamesclarkson Mar 2nd 2012 9:56AM
Power to the forsaken. It's never been about the horde for us.
LeftVentricle Mar 2nd 2012 12:52PM
DEATH TO THE LIVING AND DEATH TO THE SCOURGE!!
Prelimar Mar 2nd 2012 10:01AM
i'm a big fan of "For Lordaeron" these days, although "not in the face" is awesome because i think as alliance we can handle poking fun at ourselves.
Jorges Mar 2nd 2012 10:05AM
Everytime I hear "For the Horde" I picture ORCS. Nothing else. And I can't quite remember any voice acting in game that says For the Horde, other than orcs. But I'm an alliance player, so I'm probably wrong.
The point is, "For the Horde" means Orcs to me. Is the only race that truly represents that battlecry IMO. The other races are just tagging along for their own interests.

Actual politics, with shifting alliances (so to speak) would shake things up in this game. It would create some technical issues -- can I still group with my guildmates if my character's race left the faction? And it would complicate PvP. The first is a real complication; the latter, potentially a benefit.
