Hi, my name is Anne and I'm addicted to transmogrification

I have a problem, and its name is transmogrification. I like collecting gear sets. I like picking up different pieces of gear and putting them together. I like making my character look unique and pretty, and I cannot stop. Every time I think I've found the perfect outfit, I keep it for about a week or two until someone in my guild invariably links a piece of gear that is just so cool that I have to find it and build another set around it. You'd think void storage would have solved my bank woes, but it really hasn't.
In fact, transmogrification has only made the issue worse -- and it all has to do with quest rewards. See, once you complete a quest and get the reward for it, you can't get that reward back again if you delete it to make room for things. Unfortunately, a lot of the nicest sets out there are floating about in 1-to-60 zones as part of quest chains that you cannot redo if you happen to lose that quest item. So if you want to continue to use it for transmogrification, you have to keep it. Forever.
You see the inherent problem here?

Right now, my void storage is full to bursting with old set pieces and weapons that look really, really cool -- and my bank is in the same state. Rather than alleviate space issues, void storage simply gave me more space to throw these really cool set pieces and made it easier for me to go out and nab and store any new cool pieces I wanted. The problem here is that there is a finite number of spaces in which I can store all this soulbound stuff, and there is far more amazing gear out there than there is space to put it all.
But I'm not the only one bitten by the transmogrification bug. There are a ton of blogs out there that have popped up on the subject. There's WoW! Fashion! and the unrelated WoW Fashion, both of which feature all kinds of original and outstanding sets. World of Wardrobes is an amazing resource site that has a list of armor models sortable by type and more importantly by color, complete with links to Wowhead so you can find all of that gear. Wowhead itself has its own transmogrification tool that lists all of the outstanding matched sets you can find in game. And then there's Go Mog Yourself, which features both author and user-submitted outfits and info on where to get the sets.
Obviously I'm not alone in my transmogging obsession -- and I seriously doubt I am alone in the dire need for more bank space. Blizzard gave us an amazing, innovative, and downright fun new toy with transmogrification, but unless we get more space, that tool is going to become way more of an annoyance than the super-fun toy that it is right now. I'm seriously hoping it adds more void storage slots or tabs in the near future; otherwise, Mists is going to be a painful bout of trying to decide what exactly I can part with in my bank -- something that I thought void storage was supposed to fix.
Patch 4.3 lets you transmogrify your gear to look like any other gear your class can wear -- but you have to collect it first. Check out our coverage of transmogrification and start running those old dungeons!Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Transmogrification

Hah.. looks like most people have similar (better) ideas than mine!
You know it reminds me of the data revolution when everyone's got rid of their cds/dvds and just uses a hard drive or netflix or whatever .. we don't actually need to keep the items just prove we've won them .. and pay for the privilege ofc.

Another great site to see the look of set or specific items is Icy Veins

My other characters are wearing full sets:

My warlock - Voldrune
My priest - Necropile/Silver-thread

I love me some transmog, but sometimes it gets hard on small servers. I've been looking for a pair of Symbolic Greaves on Horde side Sentinels for awhile. Not an issue of price, they just don't appear up there. If someone has a pair message me Rakilzu @ Sentinels.

I've got the transmog bug pretty bad. I've found that sometimes my productivity just goes through the floor because I'm too busy playing with MogIt to do anything else. On top of that, I'm leveling my alts more because I want to be able to finish transmog sets for them, too!
My biggest issue has been that on my main I got loremaster of Outland/Northrend before transmog was available, so there's a lot of items I can't go back and get now.

Let's put it this way:
I just spent 380 gold on transmog for a level 27.
I don't have any trouble though ... Ahem.

Of all the models Blizz uses and reuses, the one pair of boots that would perfectly match a set I have stored up were a quest reward in Outland. That I did the week Burning Crusade came out.
THANKS, BLIZZ!

My void storage is getting close to bursting, as well. For the first few months I've been continually changing my looks, and it was only in the last two months that I've really gotten to like my current look and haven't found a reason to change so far. (It seems that my friends have an easy time noticing when I am around, too, they've gotten so familiar with my current outfit!) But I still can't stop saving cool-looking weapons and gear... JUST IN CASE... I would like to go for a different look one day.

I curse the day I did Loremaster and forever lost access to quest reward gear. (Probably vendored it.)
I learned of the Mag'hari Ritualist's Horns (http://www.wowhead.com/item=28169), a quest reward in Nagrand which is the same model as the Warlock Tier 1. Horns! But it's forever lost, because I did the quest ages ago.
I could have been a horned Priest... Could have...

Icy veins is the best...click transmog then choose item sets separate window...you'll see every piece in its own window along where to getit/where it drops...click on the bold name of the item and it automatically take you to wowhead. He has EVERYTHING weapons, wands, and best of all it's listed by head, shoulder etc. So you can open say hunter (mail) and go to shoulders and hunt for those elusive 1 piece shoulders there.

I'm completely addicted to transmog as well... But fortunately I am a HUGE fan of tier setsand their recolors. Every single alt is rocking some sort of tier recolor. My druid has blue/gold Stormrage. My DK has Might, Wrath, Judgement, Lawbringer, and working on Lightbringer recolors... my rogue (main) has tiers 1, 2, 4-13 and everything in between. Void storage solved a huge problem of space.... But then I just filled it up with more crap! WTB another void storage tab please!

I am STUPID addicted to transmogging. I have two 85 toons both have 4 bags full of transmog gear. I am so broke and void storage is not an option. And I keep running the old dungs and lower areas in hopes of an epic piece of green vanilla gear. I never played with dolls as a girl but man do I love playing dress up with my rogue and pally. I almost need to start a guild just for the bank space...hey thats not a bad idea. Call it transmog anonymous. Taking any and all lvls. Raiding nightly for transmog gear!!
Blizzard do you even know what you have done?
I run Dire Maul in my sleep dreaming of Jade Breastplates!!

I use Mogit addon which is really useful when you sort pieces by color to find that one piece you still miss.
Spent JP and lots of gold to get the perfect transmog outfits and ran old raids. (Oh Curator how welcome you made me feel everytime)
Both my hunters are perfect to me, my DK needs some work still.

Hi, my name is Susie and I am addicted to transmogrification. I am also the creator of Wow fashion - glad you like my little blog!
I too strugle with my bag space and at one point I had 3 spaces in all my bags, and had to chuck out some of my precioussssss. :< How that stung! I suppose its all down to storage and server size with Blizzard.
Also yes, its hard when you find an outfit and then realise you chucked out a part when questing. One thing I find useful is an addon called Wow Completist which shows you which quests you have completed - wish they would build this into wow! Maybe Blizz could bring in some kind of system where we could buy replica items, like we do with Dark Moon Faire replicas.

I would pay $1000 - $5000 gold right now to double my Void Storage space. Without even thinking twice or regretting it! 8(
