The Queue: Fishing

I like this question about fishing because I get to put my designer hat on -- and because I think fishing has become sort of a lost art in WoW these days. It used to be pretty cool to have max fishing (at least I thought it was); these days, it doesn't matter much, and that's too bad.
Gorelord asked:
Will there be more incentive provided to do fishing dailies in MoP? I sure hope so...
I hope so too. I think Blizzard could incentivize the fishing dailies for MoP in a few ways.
- Make it level-appropriate. Many people in the comments noted that level-appropriate dailies would let there be level-appropriate rewards. Right now, the Cataclysm dailies can't provide you with the option to get something worth 100g because it'd disrupt the lower game too much (since low-level toons can do them). If this were changed, Blizzard could start making current-era cooking and fishing dailies provide meaningful things, like 100g for repairs.
- Make rare drops possible. Rare drops from the areas we have to fish in and the bags of fishing goodies could be increased many-fold. Rewards could even include things like pets and mounts, in the similar way that the bag from the Dungeon Finder does. Of course, these items would have to be scaled down, and I'm not suggesting a 12,000g pet be included in it -- but still, rare rewards and drops could be added.
- Provide more token sinks. The Chef's Hat in Dalaran is a good token sink and a good incentive to keep doing the dailies for a long time. In Cataclysm, there's really nothing like that, so there's little incentive to do them beyond a certain point. Fishing could provide a similar system of tokens, perhaps granting token-based rewards like fishing rods, a bicycle, and fishing dex ...
Daeriel asked:
Is it possible using the WoW API to find out if your faction controls BH without having to log in to the game?
No.
Coville asked:
Ok, today is March 1st.. Where is the MoP updates? At least throw us a bone and give us a D3 launch date to count down until.
The press tour is March 13 through 15. I don't know what the embargo is on the information, but I wouldn't expect immediate updates on it. Probably a few days after that.
Evox asked:
With the Blue mention of possible new class/race combos, which ones are realistically possible and which ones should I definitely not hold my breath for? (...Tauren Rogues *crosses fingers*)
I wouldn't hold your breath at all for any new combos. Blizzard was essentially saying "not right now."

Unless they file down their hooves, Tauren would make horrible Rogues.
Cortizo Mar 2nd 2012 11:18AM
Clearly you were not presented to my patented Bunny Tales cotton pads for hooves (and similar appendages).
Just sayin'. =p

I already think Rogue Orcs are a bit questionable. The desire for them to shout "Me Stab" while stealthed is just too great!
kritorwow Mar 2nd 2012 11:44AM
But they can hide in cherry trees...

Gnomes wouldn't make very good warriors, but they can still be them.

my hubby actually had a convo with a GM about Tauren rogues once. Apparently the reason they can't be rogues is because their hooves are too cloppy. Granted, this was in a conversation about the feasibility of adding a flying mammoth race to the game, so take it as you will.

There are plenty of satyr rogues in the game, and I think rogue concealment is more about eldritch shadow magic than about being really quiet in the dark (since rogues are invisible on a bright, flat plain in broad daylight until you trip over them).
So, it could happen.

In The Shattering, there were rogue Tauren that climbed up Thunderbluff in the deep of night and assassinated people. Pretty rogue-like to me.

Tauren Rogues are being kept at by by gnomish hunters

From what i remember Tauren rogues are being kept at bay by gnomish hunters.

I often wonder how undead rogues can approach in stealth... You can smell them from a mile away, so as long as you stand with your back into the wind, you should be perfectly safe.

Tauren Rogues could work if all opponents are as dumb as the people of Skyrim.

"Huh, what was that? "

"Must have been my imagination."

Can't believe this wasn't yet said.
There ARE Tauren Rogues. They're so good you just never see them.

Afternoon Queueites!
I haven't played WoW in a good while and very little experience. What chance do I have in today's heroics?
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/nagrand/cogger/simple
Baring in mind I have no real guild support and no friends to play with!
Where do I begin?
(cutaia) Mar 2nd 2012 11:15AM
Tanking might be rough. You have the gear for the regular heroics, but you'll have to let people know you can't be gogogoing all over the place.
My advice would be to just DPS some regulars, ignore any idiot who wants to whine that your DPS isn't Dragon Soul raider caliber, and buy some nice 378 Justice gear to get up to speed. Soon enough you'll have plenty of gear for the newest heroics, and soon after that, why not check out LFR?
Raposa Mar 2nd 2012 11:15AM
you should begin race-changing!
damn gnomes on my lawn
Thanatos Mar 2nd 2012 11:16AM
Raise that melee hit % and start tanking. Don't worry so much. Call out that you are still learning the battles and all will be fine.
