Breakfast Topic: Does WoW need more emotes?

Emotes are ... well ... efficient. See that picture up there? It clearly communicates to you, the viewer, that this noble individual is involved in a thoroughly arduous task of navigation. Truly, William Rand and Andrew McNally would weep with joy.
Unfortunately, before the lovely /map emote was added as part of patch 4.1, the last time new emotes were added to the game was as part of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack. That was more than three years ago.
Personally, I'm a big fan of NCIS, and I would love a /headslap animation. What do you think? What new emotes should be added (keep it clean!)?
Editor's Note: WTB /doublefacepalm, for when one /facepalm just isn't enough.

There definitely should be a voice emote for "you're welcome". Every time someone thanks another player, that player inevitably tries by typing "/welcome" and gets "You welcome xyz". D'oh!

My favorite emote fail is /kick. I tried it once on a guild run of ZG the first week of 4.1. I expected it to say something like "Luotian kicks x in the shin. Ouch!"
Instead, we all spent the next five minutes laughing hysterically while our tank blinked and tried to figure out how the heck he got to Ogr.

I believe this was recently added, but typing /yw willl cause you to say "You were happy to help ______." There's even voice acting!
Revnah Mar 6th 2012 8:25AM
Really? Got to try that out when I get home tonight!
P.S. @Alaron: I'm in favour of the double facepalm too. It would get a lot of use around me, haha.

Try /yw :)
That one usually does something along the lines of "was happy to help."
Persephanie Mar 6th 2012 11:19AM
yes /welcome is more of a "welcome come right in happy to see you" as /yw is more of a "Your welcome" or "You got it" or "my pleasure" ect.
Revnah Mar 6th 2012 11:28AM
I still want a voice emote though! *pout* :-)
Persephanie Mar 8th 2012 7:18AM
You do get a voice emote. at least for the goblin female. She says "It was my pleasure" and "You got it"
Phaedo Mar 6th 2012 8:07AM
/honeybadger
the line would then read "--- dosnt care" or something to that effect

I would give just about anything to be able to Gibbs!Slap some guildies, I won't lie.
I think a few more animations to the ones we have would be nice, more than we really need to have new ones. I would highly enjoy seeing our Belf Paladin Tank going over and actually bonking my sister's Belf Warlock on the head as he is so fond of doing.
Nathanyel Mar 6th 2012 8:23AM
What about /bonk?
Luotian Mar 6th 2012 8:27AM
He does that, and it SAYS he does that. What I want to see is the Paladin walk over and knuckle wrap my sister's warlock on the head and the warlock's ears droop as he flinches away.
Nathanyel Mar 6th 2012 8:41AM
Actual interactions, even if just by model, would be very difficult to achieve, unless both characters are "stunned" for the duration, so they A can walk up to B and perform an animation that, at least for similar-sized models, looks like giving them a slap on the head.

a /meh emote :)
/clap isnt enough.
zammmo Mar 6th 2012 9:03AM
/golfclap is an alternative while we wait for implementation of the /meh emote.
Scuac Mar 6th 2012 10:05AM
/golfclap is my favorite emote. I used it on a tank in LFR one day who was boasting how his DPS was better than everyone else. He got furious!
Saz Mar 6th 2012 8:19AM
It would be awesome if they added in more visual emotes to go along with the current /emotes that we have. Examples:
/facepalm should show your character actually facepalming.
/coverears should show your character covering their ears, or if in close enough proximity to the person they're targeting, cover their target's ears.
/violin would be a rather funny physical emote to have, in my opinion.
On top of the addition of more physical movements being put in for already existing emotes, there are of course a slew of other /sillythingstodo that should be added. While I can't recall any of the emotes that I've tried and found out that they in fact do not exist right this moment, there have been many over the years that I've typed and thought to myself "Why isn't that an actual emote?" In the realm of character expression, I think more is definitely better.
Besides, wouldn't it be neat to sit around in a chair and have your character /yoyo his or her spare time away?
Luotian Mar 6th 2012 8:27AM
Ahahha, I would love a /yoyo. It would be fantastic for goblins (for some reason, that's all I can picture XD).
slim1256 Mar 6th 2012 9:19AM
Clearly, /coverears should be /earmuffs
Nathanyel Mar 6th 2012 8:22AM
"In fact, in Rand McNally, they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people."
This is the only thing I know about them, but that's ok as I'm not American :D
