Actually pretty excited for the browser based MMO. The graphics look fairly good, and as long as they provide nice content for a browser based MMO and have it either free or a low sub fee, I am in.

I have no where else to vent this, so wow insider gets to hear my thoughts. I was thinking about Game of Thrones (the tv show) and how much I disliked it. I thought at first it was because every other word was either "whore" or "balls." But it wasn't just that.
I realized that in a land that has that much war, that much killing, that much regicide, fratricide, assassination, etc, a place like that would not be as nice as Westeros is. It would be a ravaged and war-torn land with religious extremism, strict doctrine on women's rights, slavery, huge amounts of production of illegal drugs, poor water supply, little in the way of luxuries like alcohol, and everyone would know multiple people dying in suicide attacks and general war.
In other words, it would be Afghanistan.
So combine the fact that every woman is a "whore" and everyone is trying to chop everyone else's balls of, with the complete disconnect between war and prosperity, I just don't get Game of Thrones. Since the tv series appears to be very faithful to the book, I further have to question how these books became best sellers and why George R R Martin is so revered as a writer. I heard one reporter make the claim that he is the "American Tolkien." Goodness gracious, might as well call Ron Jeremy the American Sean Connery.
I took it upon myself to read synopses of the next books in the series, and it seems like it just gets worse - more whoring, more ball cutting off, and oh by the way the really cool/mystical northern wall part never really affects anything in the 7 kingdoms. Plus, he kills off so many of the main characters, hardly anyone from the first book survives to the 6th book... what kind of story does that? I mean, kill off a few people, sure, but to have a story you need some characters to develop over time, don't kill them all off.
Some things in this world I just do not get, and Game of Thrones/Song of Fire and Ice is one of those things that confuses the hell out of me as to why it's so popular.
apologies to those of you who disagree, I just needed a place to write this down and share it with the world.

I just don't see game of thrones (or the Westeros world) being all that great as an MMO. that universe lends itself better to an RTS game. something akin to the old westwood studios Dune II, where you pick a house and campaign with them until you control all of the lands.

Well good news, a GoT RTS came out last year! It wasn't very good I hear, but it was most definitely a RTS with rival houses.
